I think it's apt that CASINO ROYALE is to be remade. It's not a canon Bond anway and is even worse than the other non-canon rubbish NSNA. At least the title conjures up fond memories of the REAL '60s Bond films no matter what the finished product will turn out like.

Now that The Land Of The Rising Sun has taken over The Franchise it's about time McClory was paid off and Blofeld brought back! If anyone can afford to fob the guy off it's the Japanese!
I have an actor for the part already: Terence Stamp.

Stamp would be really cool as a Bond villain...damn, I never thought about that. Gabriel Byrne would also be cool I think. And I think that Anthony Hopkins would be an awesome M. I think we need another Bernard Lee type M, not Judi Dench, the "tough woman" act is gettin old.
I've always thought of Stamp as a wasted actor. Besides being THE LIMEY, one of my favourite films of the '90s, he's usually found propping up the supporting actor bits of late. Blofeld would be ideal for him both in looks and screen presence I think.

Director Martin Campell on Casino Royale
Source: New York Daily News
February 24, 2005
Martin Campbell, who directed Pierce Brosnan's first turn as James Bond in Goldeneye, is returning for the 21st film Casino Royale, based on the first Bond adventure written by Ian Fleming in 1953. MGM is targeting for a November, 2006 release.
The director talked to the New York Daily News about the movie, which will feature a new actor as 007. "There are things that will have to be changed from the original novel," says Campbell. "The Cold War elements will have to be reconfigured, for example, but 'Casino Royale' will be a grittier, tougher and more realistic Bond movie.
"We'll be getting away from the huge visual effects kind of films," he added. "In the new film, Bond is essentially starting out in his career, and has just recently become part of the double-0 section."
"The idea is to put a bit of the dash back in Bond. By the end of the movie, the character will have been forged into the wiser, harder Bond we know."

I always figured that they would one day they would make an official version of Casino Royal. (though greatly altered to work for the big screen and get the punters in). However...as the title has already been used for the spoof one, in order to distinguish them the could always call the new one "The Casino Royal" Just a minor change in title. Lets face it, the have done it before when they dropped the word from in a view to a kill. just a thought
How the hell can the word FROM lend to artistic value? The Franchise must have had their heads firmly up their own asses AS USUAL when they thought of that one!!!
