about the young teens being the target of mainstream rap... i dunno man. cuz young'ns on my block never bump g-unit or laffy taffy. i swear its immortal tech, d-block, BIG L and the Dips all day everyday. i am quite sure that the majority of G-unit fans are white and from the suburbs, again no diss just trying to make a point.

the other thing...

i was talking about hip-hop and mc'ing where it doesnt have to be multis, earth and the stars etc. then i named some mcs and then you named mcs like pharoah and chino sad.

id name some mainstream cats worthy of love:

1.d-block
2.luda
3.xzibit
4.C-N-N
5.cormega
6.joe budden
7.beanie sigel
8.Jin <--- more or less mainstream now
9.AZ

DMX kept it raw until 'and then there was x.' Hell, even ja kept it raw with 'Venni, Vetti, Vecci' probably one of the grimiest east coast albums along with hell on earth.

moving to the south, i cant absolutely front about TI and weezy, they drop some real bangers. 'the carter' is a dirty south masterpiece along with juve's '400 degreez.' and TIs 'trap music,' well people call it a modern day masterpiece, for me its definitely GOOD.

see, you can def get quality music from mainstream artists you just gotta be careful and open-minded, you also gotta be careful with the media. i personally avoid BET and i only tune in to hot97 if theyre interviewing someone i like. IMO, these 2 stations are exploiting hiphop to the fullest extent. BET even said they will no longer play rakim and kool g. rap for they are outdated! LOL!

hope you get my point.

sorry 4 the essay big grin

it's alright, but thanks for bringing the discussion back up thumb up

and im not white like pale white. im light brownish peach laughing anyway, i guess it has to do with more where youre from. Here in Cali, almost every 10 to 12 year old is rocking g-unit/dipset gear or bumping eminem, d12, 50 cent/g-unit, the game etc...

ummm pharoahe and chino never rap about stars or the earth...i dunno what you're talking about. maybe you typed that part wrong.

out of those 9, the ones i respect are: Xzibit (his first 2 albums are classic), Cormega (all his material is great), and AZ (not really a fan, but he has been releasing good music).

DMX is wack, i've heard all his stuff. the best song he ever made was this unreleased track called "**** the Industry" or something like that. the quality wasn't too good, but i have neard heard DMX spit like that. it was really good. regardless of that, he's wack in my opinion.

T.I, Z-Ro, Chamillionare, Weezy, Lil'Wayne or any other southern mc's are garbage in my opinion. now wait wait dont judge me just cuz of that statement. i'll explain...

the South has some of the best mc's of all time. Outkast (i loved their older albums), Supastition, Little Brother, Cunninlynguists, Scarface & The Geto Boys, and a few others.

BET also said that Little Brother's new album is (and i quote) "too intelligent for the BET audience". this clearly proves that the media is avoiding the exploitation of good music.

don't think im dissing the mainstream, i just think it's not releasing good music at the moment. My friends were talking about the new Chamillionare album being a classic...i gave it one listen and deleted it. The only good thing about CHam is his voice, and that doesn't really do much.

peace!

get ANYTHING by Qwel. he's just too sick with lyrics. I never really liked 7l & Esoteric. Esoteric's lyrics and flow are boring in my opinion.

Aceyalone is top 5 for me. get 'The Book of Human Language', 'Love & Hate', and 'All Balls Dont Bounce'

all great stuff thumb up

i was right into them for awhile, his voice just does it for me. i found better emcees that did the same thing for me, but without saying really racist and violent shit all time. definitely glad im out of the violent rap faze.

get broken wing by qwel for sure, that song is crazy. 7l & esoteric's first album was ok, their second album was worse and the third just sucked. they all have their so so songs on them, but dangerous connection had a few good ones and so did soul purpose, the collabs were their best. 7l needs a better emcee, esoteric gets boring quick.

Get If It Ain't Been In A Pawn Shop, Then It Can't Play The Blues. It's his best album to date.

don't get me wrong i thought the production on broken wing was perfect.. but a couple of other tracks i listened to had a somewhat boring beat kinda ruined the song

brett can you not upload so much stuff. The occasional requested or rare upload is ok, but it is illegal and it would be nice if people could support these artists. I mean Louis Logic, the man's gotta drink.

It was good, but it got kinda dull after a while, he really doesn't vary his subject matter much at all, and Cormega and C-Rayz are better at that kind of thing. I liked the production though, very original.
