So Zidane won the Golden Ball. I don't agree with that choice, but only cos of Cannavaro. Zidane was extremely poor in the group stages, which lots of people seem to have forgotten since he destroyed Spain and Brazil, which is fair enough, but Cannavaro's been close to perfection all tournament.
Hi, im new to this forum but i beleive the best team in the world, taking World Cup performances into consideration currently is:
GK: Buffon
D: F. Cannavaro A. Nesta J. Terry R. Carlos
M: Ronaldinho Z. Zidane (C) S. Gerrard C. Ronaldo
F: A. Shevchenko T. Henry
SUBS:
GK: Dida
D: Lucio R. Ferdinand L. Thuram L. Neill
M: Kaka F. Lampard M. Ballack A. Pirlo
F: Ronaldo M. Klose
It's so hard to pick a team without chosing so many stars like Luis Figo, Gianluca Zambrotti, Ruud Van Nistlerooy, Jens Lehmann, Francesco Totti, etc but this is what I have come up with. Im not sure if many people would know about Australian defender Lucas Neill, but after watching he's awesome defending in the World Cup, i think he deserves a place in the team. If anyone has any comments about my team, good or bad, i'd love to hear from you. Thanks.

Finally seen some one put Gerrard in their team (note didnt check every page) hes by far the greatest midfielder in the Premiership maybe the world
GK. Buffon
LB. Canavaro
CB.Puyol (been magic for spain and Barca)
CB. Terry (hate him because he plays for the scum who bought the cup)
LB. Carlos
CDM(Central Defensive). X. Alonso (2nd most succseful tackler this year and a great passer)
RM.Kaka (good world cup plays for AC, who lost to liverpool in the final )
LM.Robben (Again scum but good world cup)
CAM (central attacking): Steven Gerrard(C) (may not of had a great world cup but best midfielder to grace the prem)
F. T. Henry
F. David Villia (good go for Spain)
I'd like to second that. Being a bit of a Liverpool fan myself, i believe Gerrard is one of the best players to ever play Premier League football. I hope Kewell (i'm also an Australian fan :-) recovers quickly aswell then the cup is ours!

Yer Harrys been really unlucky with Liverpool with the injuries especially being taken off so early at Istanbul but hes a great player i hope he gets back soon/Oh and about Gerrard i doubt you can name a midfeilder who can bring a club back from 3-0 to 3-3 and then on to win it
I would say Ronaldinho's team. There's a lot of creativity and pace in this team with Christiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho down the flanks and Kaka in the middle. Makelele and Gerrard would do a good job as holding midfielders.
