It's supposed to make Paris look really nice, because the director digitally removed all the grafitti and dirt from the streets.

I don't think you should let it being made by a Frenchman put you off, KJ..it really is a cute movie and I think you'd find it charming.. Amelie is supposed to be a lonely dreamer and I don't think that's particularly French.

I really loved amelie, saw it two times.
I'm just disapointed it didn't get any oscar, although this movie is a lot better than bridget jones diary for example...

I think it should have gotten an Oscar for something..I guess that since it's an American Academy they feel inclined to ignore whimsical French films

Amélie
Many people like or even love the film Amélie (or Le Fabuleuse Destin d'Amélie Poulain, or in English, The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain). I searched, but didn't find a thread about it, so I decided to make one myself. Here you can post everything related to the film.
Personally, I really love Amélie. It's one of the best, maybe even the best European film I have ever seen. Not only is the film very comical, it also is very original, has a great soundtrack and great acting. Esspecially Audrey Tautou, who playes the role of Amélie Poulain, is doing a great job. I find it unbelievable and unfair Amélie didn't win any Oscars.
Ok, that was my humble opinion. Now you go.
