Auric Goldfinger & S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

Has anyone asked the question was Auric Goldfinger a member of S.P.E.C.T.R.E. (Special Executive (for) Counterintellience, Terror, Revenge (and) Extortion)? During the scene at pool side in the hotel in Maimi, Florida, after Bond fouls up Goldfinger's plans to weasel money from his pigeon playing poker player, we see a gold ring with what looks like a S.P.E.C.T.R.E. symbol engraved when he snaps a pencil. It's a spider-like symbol. Blofeld had a ring just like in in From Russia With Love. Any ideas? It's a rumor that could have validity. They never mentioned it in the movie or book, but with Goldfinger's status, either he was a member of S.P.E.C.T.R.E. or he was asked to join.

I actually read about this a while ago I think ....

in the original book, Goldfinger works actually for SMERSH (the secret service against secret agents from Russia), so weather it be SPECTRE or SMERSH, there is some one else behind it ...

Than again, he was really insane to go into ford knox without any help of either of those organisations so... I'm more thinking of no...
why go there on your own instead of asking number 1?

Cause apart from that ring, there are no other evidence. But I'm not sure erm
