Here's a really dumb question and I'm sorry for being thick but I recently got a hold of photoshop cs and for some reason I can't create layers. Every photo I open automatically becomes fixed as the background. Can anyoneput me out my misery?

probably version number and / or plugins included.. they also may include other adobe programs with photoshop..
personally I think their price is full of crap.. adobe needs to get real.. noone in their right mind is paying 600 dollars for an art program.. thats a new computer IMO

It is normal blink A photo (tiff image) is a background. I'm not sure what do you mean...

It'sOK, panic over, I enrolled in a photoshop course at my local college. Been going for 4 weeks now and am amazed at how much I've came on. Photoshop is so addictive and I can't stop using it.

click layer>new>layer from background, then click ok...
