I don't get how people can say Rock is just noise. You're only going by what you hear on TV and Radio which is mostly shit.

If I were to say Hiphop is just talking, it would be truer than anyone saying Rock is just shouting. Factually.

It doesnt matter which one wins, because without Rock, there never couldve ever been rap. Its a known fact. Rock has been around for years, and will always be here. Rap is something new, like a trend. People might not just like it for now, but people will ALWAYS have a thing for Rock more than rap. Even old people...

Blessed Be.

depends on the artists really, but as i have a much higher percentage of rock CD's in my collection than i do rap, i had to vote for rock.

"it depends on who you're listening to in order to judge which is better."

It would be more effective but I really don't think, at the end of it all, that people rhyming are gonna be able to be viewed as more talented than people who write songs or play instruments live.

can't compare them really, but my vote is rap because i enjoy listening to this type more frequently... i know it's not aaaall good, but in my opinion artists like Pac and Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem are superior to most writers and songmakers. Right now, Kanye is killing everybody in the game, just by coming out with something different. Nelly, 50, DMX did the same and all of their breakout albums are insanely good.

Why can't you compare them? I don't get why people say that. Of course you can. Are you afraid HIPHOP is gonna get whooped?

MF Doom, Prince Poetry, Warcloud, Slug, Pharoahe Monch (old), Method Man, Public Enemy, N.W.A, Run DMC, Immortal Technique, Tech 9, Chino XL.

Vs

Tool, Led Zeppelin, NIN, Black Sabbath, Incubus, A Perfect Circle, The Cure, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains.....

Yeah, well. As someone who listens to both I can say that as good as those rhymers are, they can't touch the sheer musical and lyrical competence of those bands.

Exactly.

Bloom, you said Rock is just noise. If in reply to you I say Hiphop is just talking, while it may be false in the end, it would hold MORE truth than your claim.

So you basically just named all of the hip-hop artists that Hockey has mentioned before. Take off Prince Po, Warcloud, Method Man, Immortal Technigue, Tech 9, and Chino XL. They do not represent hip-hop like the rest you named (and dont deserve to be on such a list) and should never ever be on a list trying to compare hip-hop to rock. I know you don't know hip-hop, because you left out some of the best MC's ever. So stick to saying rock rules and stop trying to compare when you don't even know hip-hop.

I'd take Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Brand Nubian, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Juice Crew, Masta Ace, Kool G Rap, Jungle Brothers, Marley Marl, Ultramagnetic MC's, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5, MC Shan, Gang Starr, Organized Konfusion, Spoonie Gee, Slick Rick, T La Rock, Kurtis Blow, Main Source, and EPMD

OVER

Tool, Led Zeppelin, NIN, Black Sabbath, Incubus, A Perfect Circle, The Cure, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains

ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I can understand Zeppelin, G & R, BS, and maybe Nirvana, but outside of Zeppelin, none of them can **** with the artists I mentioned.

Here's a fact for ya:

A Tribe Called Quest > Tool, NIN, Incubus, A Perfect Circle, The Cure, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains

Now, I'm not saying I don't like the arists you named. I'm a fan of Zep, BS, Rage, Soundgarden, and Incubis. The rest are good or even very good, but they're not better than the artists I named... and please don't ever add Prince Po, Warcloud, Method Man, Immortal Technigue, Tech 9, and Chino XL to a list of hip-hop greats. They don't belong anywhere on the list you were trying to make.

Rock rules!

That's because you listen to too many Chino XL, Rass Kass, Immortal, ect beats. They never have any good beats. If you truly knew hip-hop, good hip-hop, you wouldn't have said that.

"Now, I'm not saying I don't like the arists you named. I'm a fan of Zep, BS, Rage, Soundgarden, and Incubis. The rest are good or even very good, but they're not better than the artists I named"

Infact, Tool are more than likely the most talented musical entity out of all the ones mentioned in this thread.

All those artists you mentioned, Hiphop, I listen to them all and have done for years. It still doesn't change the fact that talent wise, an excellent BAND is always better than an excellent rhymer.

"I know you don't know hip-hop, because you left out some of the best MC's ever. So stick to saying rock rules and stop trying to compare when you don't even know hip-hop. "

What in the world? Who in the hell are you to tell me that I don't know Hiphop? I listen to all the same people you later mentioned and have done for years. The fact of the matter is this, I know about real Hiphop and that bites the shit out of you because I still say Rock is better. That's a fact and you prove it with every post. BUT, seeing as we're telling each other what we know.

I know for a fact you know jack shit about Rock because of this:

"Here's a fact for ya:

A Tribe Called Quest > Tool, NIN, Incubus, A Perfect Circle, The Cure, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains"

You are trying to say that an excellent hiphop collective are superior to all those phenomenal bands and the truth is, they aren't.

Even more hilarious is that you claimed it was a fact.

You can sit on your Hiphop high horse all you want buddy, I respect your right to an opinion.

The bottom line is this:

The reason that smashes anything you say in this thread to pieces, is that you are taking the liberty to have an opinion on which genre is better, Rock or Hiphop. Right? Well I know a HELL OF A LOT more about Rock than you do, coz you clearly (from what you've said in that post) know jack shit and yet all the artists you named from Hiphop, I listen to and own albums of. So essentially it's one person with a great deal of knowledge on both Vs one person with a great deal of knowledge on one.

You sir, are a very silly man.

Little tip: Don't put things across as fact if they aren't so. If you think A Tribe Called Quest are better than all those bands, more power to you. It's not a fact because if it were I wouldn't be able to deny it. Nor would anyone else on here.

Yet it's so strange how the bands you say are the best in Rock, are some of the most well known. Why? Well I'll tell you in black and white, why you think Hiphop is better, that reason is this:

As intelligent as you THINK you are, you just can't understand intelligent rock music or lyricism.

That is what it comes down to and I have proven it before when I posted those lyrics and you run a mile coz you couldn't understand them.

Peace out.

I'm too good for my own good sometimes, really.

-AC
