Exabyte is right, namárië is Quenya for "Farewell," being a combination of 'na' and 'márië.' Like Exabyte said, -ië is an infinitive (or gerundial) suffix only found in Quenya. Now, the following are a few of my own constructions with Sindarin. I believe them to be correct, but I'm not 100% possitive. I haven't studied the entire language, just the basics:

Ná túro nín! ----- Victory is mine!
Túriel nín! -----Victory shall be mine!
Túriel mín! ----- Victory shall be ours!
Ná túro mín! ----- Victory is ours!
Avom firo údagor! ----- We will not perish without a fight!
Dagro mín! ----- We make war!
Firitha lín! ----- You will die!
Elo! An firo! ----- Behold! For ruin!
Annin meleth nín lé! ----- I give my love to thee!
Lé rúdh! ----- You are bald!

I love working with other languages, and Elvish is so unbelievably awesome. Who agrees with me?

Yep ... which would in Sindarin be na+mae(r)=Navaer ^^

I do ^^ the elvish languages are SO beautiful, the sound as well as the grammar and structure... most languages are, but Eldarin is simply - amazing eek!

happy
Very optimistic ^^ "We win", "you will die" etc *lol* ^^ but practical phrases yes *writes down and adds to her phrase-listing*

quote:
Túriel nín!

That's an interesting construction... *likes*
Basically meaning the same as "Tûr anim" / pl "Tûr ammen"...?
quote:
Avom firo údagor!

Avom? -o- is just in infinitive and imperative [and a-stem first ps sgl] methought confused
Couldnt it also be "Ú-firatham ú-dhagor" [dagor lenited]?
quote:
Dagro mín!

happy sounds a lot more beautiful than the normal phrase, "Dagram" ^^
quote:
Firitha lín!

Again, more beautiful than literal "you will die" - "Firithach"
quote:
Elo! An firo!

eek! NAN AMARTH ^^ *likes sentence* *remembers*
quote:
Annin meleth nín lé!

Isn't anna- an a-stem-verb?
AnnOn (i-)veleth nín alle/ache // le annon...?

quote:
Lé rúdh!

laughing !!! Practical, practical shifty

Neither nor, it's Isdira smile also an elvish language, but NOT by Tolkien and you won't find it anywhere in LoTR;

It's used for RPGs and LARPs as it's a lot easier than Quenya and Sindarin, but imo doesn't have the full beauty of those languages as it's not really harmonical.

The single words are copied from similar ones in Quenya (sometimes also Sindarin) and changed a little to be easier to pronounce for english-speaking people,

But it's hardly more than a bad copy sad

Welcome to KMC, Seretur big grin (Seretur=Peace-king?)

Here's a thread about remembering words... though it died quite soon sad
http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f34/t300646.html

Are you learning elvish? smile how are you remembering the words?

The main problem about learning Sindarin is imo not really remembering the words themselves but the understanding of the kinda quite different structure and flow of the language, the idea of lenitations or vowel mutations etc... or in Quenya all the casi replacing most prepositions.

im getting a tattoo of a bible verse, and im pretty sure of the last part, but i think the people that helped me were using two or three different kinds of elvish, i just wanted it is sindarin

the verse is "Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Hear, O Israel: The Lord is [our] God, the Lord alone.[You shall] Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

the translation i have is

listo, ai Israel; I Dor erulye, i Dor na er. meluvan i dor erulye ilye ore a ilye sule a ilye tur.

i think this still needs a lot of work w/ grammer, but i want to stay as close to the original verse as posible.

thanks for the help
