I have a program called Microsoft FrontPage that seems promising for web-based stuff.

So.

1. What does Adobe Bridge do?

2. Is there any relatively cheap software I should look into getting besides Adobe InDesign?

3. Any ideas of things I can do outside of simply purchasing the programs?

...any thoughts are appreciated.

1.Its a file management tool

2.I don't know but for web design Dreamweaver and Flash are incredibly useful

3.Read guides on the subject and look at layouts for ideas.

My suggestion is to stay away from Front Page, to many issues and you have to find a server that will handle the front page extensions. I would suggest using Dreamweaver, I use it every day and a great program and easy to use and very powerful. You don’t have to use any tool to build web pages they just make it easier and quicker, most of the first sites that I built were using notepad and a FTP program. HTML is pretty easy to learn and if you want to get into dynamic programming I would suggest PHP. The visual quickstart books are great tools to learn, simple and easy to learn the basics and I would also read up on CSS.

Adobe Bridge is basicly a media organizer.

HTML is very easy to learn - I had it all memorized when I was 12 years old stick out tongue there's really no need for a program like Dreamweaver or Frontpage because it's very easy to code by hand. My personal experience with those programs is that they're more complicated than need be and limit you too much, but it may be because I just don't ever use them and prefer to code by hand.

Try looking into CSS as well for webdesign. You can use it to control just about every single element of a page and it's not very hard to learn.

I wouldn't bother with actually getting any sort of books though as you can find everything online for free stick out tongue

The books are nice to help you weed through all the garbage that is online and gives you a nice step by step approach, the nice part about programs such as Dreamweaver is the validation scripts that are built into them to help keep your site W3C and XML compliant and well as saving you a bunch of time. For me since I get paid by contact or by the hour time is important.

Though Lana is correct that you can learn much of what you need to know online without books, this is a great site that I use all the time http://www.w3schools.com but I disagree with them limiting you, I’ve never had that problem.

Well, as I said, it might just be because I'm not used to using programs so they seem so much more complicated than they need to be stick out tongue

And I prefer reading things on the internet as opposed to books, because it's just a billion times more convenient. Instead of having to go through a pile of books to find one thing, you can just google it and have the info in 10 seconds. Plus if you're trying to code something and mess it up, you have an example you can easily copy and paste to try and troubleshoot off of.

BTW, just to be random...Pitt, do you know anything about coding templates for Wordpress? I'm working on setting up a new site and decided to go with that for blog software and it's just being a huge pain in my ass stick out tongue

Never used Wordpress, but from what I read it is XHTML and PHP, I know a little about XHTML and quite a bit about PHP.

Thanks guys. I can't say learning to code the stuff myself sounds appealing (sorry Lana stick out tongue ), but I have some more direction at least. And Dreamweaver has to be cheaper than Adobe's design program, so I'll probably look into it.

If you are talking about where the top pic is just overlayed over the bottom you can change the opacity of the top layer, or you can try different layer blends.

I'd rather not get any drama started with what I'm about to ask...

But I want to play a joke on my friends from school, they haven't seen me since Graduation and I wanted to photoshop a picture of me to look pregnant and I was wondering if anyone could help with that? Lol. embarrasment I don't have anything round around the house or I'd just take the picture like that but I've seen photoshopped pictures of celebrities and pregnancy so I know it's possible. Please and Thanks.

Forget the last post. I was wondering if someone could teach me to use Photoshop brushes like what's in my signature (I didn't make this).

Um, yes. You didn't make it.

And you shouldn't use something that was made by someone else unless they made it for you or you have permission from them. That's stealing, you realize.

And before anyone says it, the internet is NOT public domain, as that's a very specific term referring to copyright laws.

It was made specifically for me, just on another forum.

We all know about both of those, and have for years.

I have an entire thread of links to programs, brushes, render sites, etc.
