People can rate other people's posts, which regarding their overall points gives them higher or lower kharma.
For example:
You could like this post I make here, and give it a +Awesome mod, or a +Clever mod. (Mods are based off what 5 different ratings for plus and minus the person who puts it in wants)
However you could also mod this thread, -WTF or -Lame.
The points add to your Kharma pool and levels you up as a member over time, and can give rewards. On another forum I've been, they've had it that once a member reaches level 20 in Kharma, they can post in the 20+ Kharma Forum, where people below 20 kharma cant. Also, people who haven't reached a certain level, can't make threads. Like level 4-5 or whatever. Also, all the records of the +'s and -'s stays in the persons profile.
You might say that the system would get abused, and it could, and probably would by a few members. However it can very easily be watched by mods to see who is modding themselves or others up obsessively.
KMC has been the same thing for like 8 years, its time for a change lol.

How do you know? It's never been done. It works just fine on a majority of other forums, so I don't see why it wouldn't here. It would add quite a bit of dynamic to KMC's atmosphere.

It works fine on small forums that don't have a lot of spiteful cliques. A forum of this size, it was very easily be abused; I've never seen it work on a forum with more than 5,000 members.
As far as I know, referrals do absolutely nothing at all. I don't even know why we have them.
And spamming is against the rules because it is. What kind of question is that? It's against the rules because it's something that Raz decided he didn't want around on here.
Also, Walshy? Change your sig. Censor bypass is a bannable offense.
Works perfectly fine there. As long as rules are brought up on the system, people still need to follow them like any other. It's not a difficult concept.

I'm sorry, dude, but it's my opinion that such a system changes the mood of a forum, and makes it more like a bubbly glitzy rpg than serious discussion.
Look, it just looks like a character sheet. Staff Awards, Karma, Mods seem like silly gimmicks to me.
Now I understand that it can be fun and many people enjoy it. But it's just not how I want KMC to be, and I think neither do many others.
But you're cool, definitely try to insult me just cause I disagree with your suggestion.
