Wheeee, I just picked up a copy of the collector's edition when I was at work (some kid traded it in so I made my manager set it aside for me so I could buy it at the end of my shift. Cost me $40), so I have FFXII now.
So yeah. Off to play that one now. Perfect timing as well, I have no more classes this week

YES!!!
I don't know why I'm this happy, but I am.
Keep me up to date on your progress please.
I have no more classes after tomorrow, so that's what I'll be doing over break as well since I was unable to acquire a Wii.
Personally, I could never trade my games in, especially a Final Fantasy Game.
I like to keep all of my games in my library and you never know when you want to play them again.
SO how excited are you?
I'm made though that we didn't get the whole week off like another college I know of. It was announced in class today by a speaker that the other college had the whole week off.
We always get these half weeks. Not really half b/c it starts Thursday. But since the only class I have Wednesday is not really a class, we just go and check out of our Chemistry Lab and make sure all the equipments there and then we're done for the semester.
And I'm going to skip my Eng. Class since we're just watching a movie and she's not taking role.
So yeah, I could go home tomorrow if it wasn't for that stupid Chem Lab Check Out.
I'm three hours in the game right now, Vaan's level 5 and I just [SPOILER - highlight to read]: broke into the palace. I'd have played more but it's past 1 am and I'm exhausted.
I'm liking the game a lot so far - I like the license board system a lot and the battle system is cool (though I think that if you can move away from an enemy, you should be able to evade attacks). I've yet to really run into any trouble in a battle or anything.

Yeah, I agree about the evading thing.
I'm like 45 hours in I think and I'd like to think I have plenty more to go.
I'd hate for the game to be over already.
I swear, at some parts I got very scared.
I was confused as to where to go and I went from being in a area with leve 40-43 creatures to an area with level 62 creatures that killed one of my characters with one hit.
They were just bats!!
And I quickly ran away from the area and was like if that's where I'm supposed to go next, this game really messed up and I'm not going to run around leveling up until I'm at that level, but I was mistaken and I'm good now.
It's b/c they don't put some paths on a map so I would run right past it, not knowing that it was there.
Well, I'm 7 hours in, just got Basch in my party, Vaan, Balthier, and Fran are all level 8, and I'm just about off to [SPOILER - highlight to read]: rescue Penelo.
At the moment Vaan is acting as a warrior/thief, Balthier a white mage, and Fran a black mage. Fran's still using her bow and I think I'll stick to that, Balthier I'll probably give some other weapon eventually.
Barheim was surprisingly hard; I had about 15 potions and went through all of them, and Basch kept dying and I used all my Phoenix Downs reviving him. I had to spend a lot of time running in circles to Balthier's MP would regenerate so I could heal up my character.
I spent a while running around in the Estersand so I could build up LP...yay for tons of low-level enemies that are easy to kill.
He's just serving as a white mage until I get Penelo or Ashe in my party, since at the moment only Fran has a higher MP and I'm concentrating on getting her black magics...which actually I think I have licenses for and just need to actually go buy now. Balthier's able to heal 100-125 HP at a time, which is sufficient for now.
And I'm going to keep building up his gun licenses...just they don't do a terrible amount of damage right now, since I'm a low level and haven't gotten much in the way of decent weapons yet.
Gun attack power is calculated differently then sword/other melee weapons, I think.
Since, right now, Balthier has a gun that has an AP of around 40 or 50, and it does over 1,000 damage. Where as Vaan has AP of well over 70 and only does about 800-900 damage.
Also, black magic is a waste in this game. Sadly, I've rarely found a use for it. If you have decent equipment your normal attacks will do as much/more damage then magic, plus you're going to want to save as much MP as possible for healing later on.
I like magic too, thing is, as you progress through the game the magic doesn't scale very well, and becomes less and less useful, while physical weapons scale very well, hit for more damage, and are faster seeing as there isn't the casting bar, and also don't cost MP.
