So your father told you he has sex with men only for fun? Your father has no choice in the matter, he was born gay and probably lived his life in the closet, got married, had a kid(s) and repressed it until he could repress it no more. Don't let your negative experience and personal hatred skew logic since, after all you have an "extraordinary philosophic mind".

If you find it harder to be straight than gay, maybe do some soul searching, you could be gay yourself. there isn't a 'Gay Force' pressuring peolpe into turning gay. One cannt be turned homosexual, you either are born homosexual or you're not.

I promise you, if you were to take a totally straight man and force him at gunpoint to have sex with 100 men, it wouldn't change his viewpoint and make him gay; just as you couldn't make a gay man straight.

Correct. And, if he is, he's an ass.

So wrong it hurts.

I'd assume the whole 'Gay plague ruining the moral fibers of the tradional family structure.' But I could be wrong...

Plenty of other things have "ruined the moral fibers of the traditional family structute": Interracial marriages, working mothers.

Well, Fece isn't usually so closed minded, but I'm sure he thinks that it was wrong for this guys dad to come out. But I think this guy should give it a little time and come to terms with this issue. He either loves his father and wants him to be happy, or he doesn't want him to be happy. I undersatand a lot of parents spend their entire lives putting their children first. And I'm sure his dad didn't tell everyone he was gay without a little thought placed behind it.

Bull-****ing-shit. Don't start with that "close-minded conservative" crap. It wasn't wrong for the man to come out; it was wrong for him to **** up his family life by ditching his wife and kids for another man. It'd be no different if he were a straight guy chasing skirts.

Or was it wrong that he felt the need to 'closet' himself for so long because of societies negative view on homosexuals? Do you think if gays had every right and every bit of respect as straight people he would have ever been with a woman let alone married one and had a child?

Straight men ditch their families all the time for other women, yet it isn't as horrible as a gay man doing it, why is that?

This is probably the only instance were I blame society and not the person.

Except, there is a societal surpression of homosexuality...it was wrong for him to do, but its not the same as having an affair.

Don't try to push it off as such. Sexuality is a matter of identity.

Except its not.

Its lying to yourself and to everyone else (well, the affair part is the same is an affair actually took place) but the identity is the issue.

Wrong... Having an affair involves cheating behind your spouse, lying, keeping it a secret. Leaving your wife for another person is not lying, it's telling the truth. Though both potentially painful to your spouse, they are different.

(Edit: Alliance, we're saying the same basic thing only a minute apart, it's all yours.)

The American Heritage Dictionary sez that an affair is...

quote:
A romantic and sexual relationship, sometimes one of brief duration, between two people who are not married to each other.

That's true, but its also used when one of the cheating parties is taken but not married. (ie: boy friend and girlfriend)

Researchers at the University of Georgia conducted a study to determine the cause of homophobia. For the purposes of this study, "homophobia" was defined as "a negative emotional reaction, e.g. anxiety, discomfort, fear, etc. to homosexuality."

Of a sample of 64 men, none of whom had engaged in homosexual behavior in their lifetime and whose sexual fantasies involved only women, 35 were rated homophobic and 29 were rated non-homophobic according to the Index of Homophobia.

The men were then shown gay, lesbian, and straight adult films while a plethysmograph device measured the circumference of their penis as a gauge of sexual arousal.

The two groups exhibited similar arousal when they viewed four minute samples of the lesbian and the straight adult films, but responded differently to the sample of the gay film.

Of the non-homophobic men, 66% experienced an insignificant degree of penile tumescence, 10% experienced a moderate degree of penile tumescence, and 24% experienced a definite degree of penile tumescence.

Of the homophobic men, 20% experienced an insignificant degree of penile tumescence, 26% experienced a moderate degree of penile tumescence, and 54% experienced a definite degree of penile tumescence.

The researchers concluded that this data is consistent with the belief that homophobic men have repressed homosexual desires.

More than 64 would be nice though..to say something you know..like...1000 maybe...or more.

But then we'd need 1000 plethysmograph devices to fit each indivisual penis!
