Im probably one of the few but I dont think St.Anger is as bad as some people say it is. The first half is actually quite good. Frantic, St.Anger, Dirty Window and My World are all cool songs imo

i agree, St Anger is damn fine when you think of it as a recovery album, its has some solid songs on it, it is a step back towards their older stuff from Load and Reload for the people who didn't like the derection they went in

Yeah, its definitely a lot more trashy then there 90's stuff.
And the snare sounds cool imo, sounds like its made of metal, which fits

what the ****??? ... the snare sounds awful! too loud in the mix and the production was weak
st. anger had alot of potential , with good riffs... it was more thash oriented than their recent albums , but come on! it sounds too crappy for metallica standars

Yeah, the drums are probably too loud, but hey Im a drummer, so I listen to drums in songs relatively more then the average listener. I like drums
But yes the guitars often sound too fuzzy.

The vocals are cool, its less monotonous then on there previous albums. Though I like James' vocals best on the 90's albums probably.
Apart from fuzzy guitars the production isnt bad imo

James best vocals were on the black album " the unforgiven" "where i may roam" " nothing els matters" "Of wolf and man"
load are reload had decent vocals by james as for the earlier and better albums the music was top notch but the vocals were averge.
