Always a good idea to ask for peer advice- good thinking.
As for Anger vs. Hatred- Hatred prevents you from taking Defensive Actions. The other players may have comments to make about that.
(Emotions always combines best with Strength from Pain)
(Which NONE of the Dark Siders use, for no apparent reason!)

Lorn Harbringer – Light – Athlete
Lorn was a rare find for the Jedi Temple. He had been brought up on the planet of ‘Hurricane,’ which lay far outside the outer rim. His parents were miners and they were mining a particularly rich asteroid when some rogue Valerians attacked them.
Their ship fired up its boosters as soon as they saw the hostile ships on their scanners and the family prepped the engines for hyperspace. Blaster fire from the pursuing Valerians made light work of the ship’s left booster and knocked it off course.
The Harbringer’s entered hyperspace with their battered ship, the Valerians in hot pursuit behind them. They arrived at a planet they hadn’t expected, Hurricane. One final blaster shot was sent towards them tearing up the nothingness between the Valerians and their ship. The shot came from a ‘Firespray’ of one of the Valerian trackers. As the shot hit, it tore into the hull of the ship and sent it careering towards the planets surface at an uncanny rate, cutting through the atmosphere and the various other layers before crashing into the planets craggy surface.
The Valerians saw little interest in following the family onto the planet’s unchartered surface. The Harbringer’s clambered out of the wreckage and fortunately the air was breathable. They surveyed the area in the immediate proximity and decided it best to set up camp and eventually a home as they saw it was impossible to leave the planet in the short term.
Years past and Lorn quickly reached the age of five. His body was lean, due to having to negotiate the uneven terrain on a daily basis. The family had been able to salvage some equipment to set up a modest home. Hurricane contained small pockets of hyper-fertile soil, which provided excellent areas for growing crops.
Later that year, a young jedi came to the planet in search of unique crystals for his lightsaber, to set him aside from the other jedi in the academy. His name was Mace Windu.
Luckily for the Harbringer’s and for Lorn, when Mace arrived back at the Temple, he relayed the family’s distress call and a transport was sent for them. They were eternally grateful to the Temple for returning them to their home on Coruscant. Their home, which resided in the upper levels, had been well maintained by the family droid, who performed most household chores and security.
Lorn’s father’s assets head been frozen as he like the rest of his family were presumed to be dead. The Temple sorted this matter out for them, using their authoritative power for the greater good. Lorn’s father offered some monetary sum to pay for the Temple’s troubles but they refused.
It was only a matter of months later when the Jedi voiced an interest in Lorn, saying that he had a relatively high midichlorian count. Lorn went with the jedi, he felt some grief when he left his family but this was soon dissipated when he started his training. Lorn had a lack in the ‘advanced’ force powers, but what he lacked in them he made up with his skill with a lightsaber.
OOC: Not the most terribly entertaining piece of literature, but I wrote it nevertheless.
