Linux
Do any members of KMC use Linux as their Operating System? I have heard alot about it, and I am wanting some personal opinions about it.

If you've got Windows and are happy with it - don't switch.
Although if you're still wanting to make a switch, then for novice users, I would recommend Mandrake , and for the advance users Gentoo .

when it comes to linux, I use Mandrake...awhile back, I figured it was time to check out this thing called linux, and Mandrake was what I went with. Knoppix is what I use when "on the go"...there are distros called "live"...those boot from the cd. So don't try to install a linux distro with "live" in the title. I've been a fan of it since, and will hopefully check out FreeBSD soon.
Red Hat Enterprise is what you have to pay for. Fedora is a spin off of Red Hat, and will remain free. So if you are wanting to check out Red Hat, don't get Enterprise unless you want to pay, but check out Fedora.

Yup, Knoppix is a great to just test out Linux, without making any changes to your computer.
Its also good in emergencies.

Hm, I'll try out Knoppix, I think. I'm a bit bored. Any difference between Knoppix and Knoppix-STD? Recommend either over the other?

Okay, Raz, I got Knoppix so I can recover everything on my HD so I can format after the mouse incident.... I tried to download AIM so I could use the file-transfer ability to get my files off to another computer. I was able to install, but it won't run due to a file missing, or something. Any suggestions of a linux program that will be able to help me send files out to another computer?
