The little tingle of humor to Frank Cheese's "The Sickness", I looked at as kind of a throwback to the card playing scene, where they all had millions of dollars on the table. Kinda like, "So, what do you do in your spare time, knowing you're probably going to die anyway?" type deal.
I thought it ws funny, and thankfully, they kept it somewhat short.
I saw a late showing on friday, and it was great!! And I regard the original "Dawn" as the top and my favorite zombie movie... But they did a great job with the remake. Sure the zomibes are faster then in the old movies.. BUT they till are slow and creepin around when they are by themselves.. only fast when they see people to attack... so i thought that was pretty cool.. They kept a lot of the same aspects as in the original.. the news reporters not really knowing what was going on, unexplained. It was just great... And how it ended with the video camera on the boat was great.
I hope they do Day of the Dead too... "Dawn", "Zombie", and "Day" are my favorite zombie movies..
although "28 days later" is right up there when you throw in the new movies too.

It was great! But call me "hollywood mainstream" since i would have preffered the ending with the boat coasting off and leave there fate unknown, insted of the darker ending where you believe they were all killed once they reached the island.
Oh yeah, and I know this has been mentioned before but [SPOILER - highlight to read]: wasn't the garage full of Zombies? How were they able to pimp out those buses?
I thought it was very humorous, Jay Leno, Burt Reynolds!
I just seen this movie this past weekend and i thoughth it was excellent. What i liked the most was that besides the mall and the zombies it wasnt really a remake and stood as a different movie by itself. Im wondering if they are making a Night oF The Living Dead since it was the first movie in the trilogy, i liked the fact that the zombies were fast but in a more real way unlike "House of the Dead" but i thoght that once they went into the armory there were gonna be more kinds of guns and i was wondering were u guys got that they died in the island, i thought it ended nicely making room for "Day and the Living Dead" remake, the fat lady zombie was hillarious.

im jsut curious "The sickness" did Disturbed cover that song or was it covered for the film?
and i still dont think they should have used the DAWN OF THE DEAD name. it is a movie of its own. sure the idea is ripped from the orginal, but the story and zombies were original. plus i think if the directer (who is a first timer) would have labeled it his own movie then he would have more credibility when directing future movies. in all honestly i think the guy did an amazing job, along with the editor.
one of the things that killed the movie was the cheese early 90's screenplay. like i said before, some of the scenes were way too unpratical. zombie movie directers/writers need to start writing intelligent characters. becuase i dont know bout you guys, but every time i watch a zombie movie i always figure what i would do. some of the characters a written as the "dumb blondes"
example from the dawn of the dead[SPOILER - highlight to read]: when the rich guy got out of the tipped bus and blood dripped on his hand. hmmm..... what would i do? id shoot the mother f*cker without even looking. but no instead the guy flings his arms up like a person would do in a 30's hitchcock movie would.
i def dont think the director should continue a sequel for his "dawn of the dead". i think the ending was perfect... actually i think it would have been better if they left it with the boat sailing away (then you could do a sequel with the characters) but since they went farther, they should jsut leave it alone. it ends with you guessing whether they died or not, and that is a good note to leave it on. because that is something that everyone is gonna be bitching about for the next couple years. that is a how you make a classic movie... leave questions open with multiple factors.
if they were to do a sequel to this movie, they should maybe have a prequel that leads to its on movie.
example when everyone meets for the first time (meaning the five who enter in the mall) they talk about how they lost people trying to get across the road. well maybe they could follow another story, and connect the two stories together by maybe having the characters go to that fort that they had set up... and you meet the Kenneths brother, and you see the reports on the news again. but this is alll being if the director or writer decside on continuing on this.
"day of the dead" remake... i hope that they dont get the idea to do what they did with "dawn of the dead". does anyone know who is making it? i hope that the crew who made the "dawn of the dead" remake continue in the horror genre because they have the creative idea of it. but they should def look at independent films because their style had a very independent feel and i think they could really bring more independent films in to the main stream, esp. since they did a great job with "dawn of the dead"
i also heard that "dawn of the dead" beat out the "passion" in teh box office. does anyone know the numbers, and if so does the number count the wed and thurs that the "passion" was out?
