Its been proven a loong loong time ago..its called Velocity.

Speed x Mass = Velocity (kinetic energy).

using this, Supermans strength is greatly assisted.

using your leg and back muscles (like throwing a javelin) would not yield the same result as if you were throwing one while flying, HOWEVER
standing still and throwing a javelin would show your strength more accuratley.

On a side note...they run before throwing a javelin ...why? VELOCITY.
So your theory in question has been proven Sir.

i'm glad you agree cause that leads us into one of hulk's best known feats

(please log in to view the image)

here is hulk, (on his FEET, under his own strength) pushing apart matter from anti matter.

Flight alone doesn't do anything for lifting, if the character isn't strong enough to brace the object.

Imagine you had high level telekinetic flight/levitation. You still wouldn't be able to lift extremely heavy objects like Superman.

It is also just incidental that Superman is usually lifting something and flying. Is he going to lift something and then walk around with it when he can fly?

There is also the fact that he would have to get under the object, lift it, AND THEN fly.

Irrelevant to the discussion. Even if Hulk was doing that while in flight, it wouldn't reduce that feat at all. Flight would not assist in pushing two horizontal objects apart.

Except that:

a) Superman regularly breaks the rules of physics.
b) Superman, and how his powers work, have changed since those years.

So no, not proof.

Not what I was talking about.

If he's moving in a certain direction, then yes, his flight would naturally help him.

Hovering? Not so much.

Either way, he'd use his flight against Hulk for ramming etc, so it's not like his feats are somehow diqualified.

um yes it would. have you ever weight lifted?

the strain of the weight would be in his legs and back under hulks own power. that can not be said for superman since his flight aids him in moving an object forward.

you don't have to get under an object to lift it and superman does most of his lifting while already in flight.

you seem to be missing the point, the argument isn't "does superman have super strength", it's "who's stronger"

1)i've already posted the scan from supes own comic stating that his flight assist him.
2)it's basic physics that it's easier to move an object while in motion.
3) most of supes greatest strength feat are done in space (zero gravity while flying), during flight, or with assistance from another hero equal to his strength.

he was hovering originally and then moved the ship, either way SUPERMAN stated that his flight aids him. i can post that too if you like. face it, superman stated himself that flight aids him in lifting heavy objects.

funny how much you want to ignore when it suits you.

I agree with the "get under the weight" Sir.
Take a power clean LIFT for example...
but in turn you also validate my point about strength being more accuratley measured by standing rather than using kinetic energy.
My point earlier was using velocity to THROW an object, I didnt use LIFT as an example because of course it wouldnt make sense.

But to answer your question..he could fly or walk with it...its all up to him. Obviously he coul dwalk and fly with it because thats what he can do. but that does not explain you and your buddies hypothosis of why he is physically stronger than the Hulk. My argument is simple..continuous rising anger = more strength to Supermans strength.

Not as funny as you picking what you want from my posts to suit your own agenda.

Calling me biased won't absolve you of your own hate, you know.

You are skimming toward them two fighting...of course Superman would win that fight by means of brains over brawn.

That scan shows Hulk pushing two objects apart in a horizontal manner, that is pushing out with both his arms in opposite directions. Hulk (or anyone else), would have to remain stationary - on the ground or in the air, flight would not help.

And yes I do train with weights.

i don't' have to pick parts of your post seeing it's incorrect in it's entirety. your one sided nature shows when you change debate rules on the fly to suit your agenda.

in stating that you do realize that the strain to maintain stationary was also in hulk's legs? a problem he wouldn't have if he was in the air under flight.

I find your signature........... interesting

it mentiones Kinetics, PHI a PSI. You train with weights, thats excellent!! Im sure you apply kinetics in your lifting as well as mental abilities for motivation but in turn if you tried your lifts with just raw power instead of technique, it would be more difficult and less productive.
point is...your TRUE strength is tested on the ground rather than using kinetic energy.

What I mean is this....Superman would win the fight. he is smarter and would have the Hulk running in circles trying to figure out what the hell is going on, but this debate is strength.
