By Thursday I’m all better. “Yeah, it was weird I don’t know what it was, but it was bad.” I’m telling somebody at work when we have a break. “Well, glad you feel better now.” Mat, one of my fellow co-workers, said before walking off to go seat a table. When shift ends I walk over to my locker in the kitchen, it’s where we keep all our personal stuff, and there is a big bouquet of flowers and a note. Humph, who could have done this? I think to myself. All the girls have surrounded them, but pretend not to be when I walk over to it. “Uhh, um, who...who did that?” one girl says trying to act not interested. “I don’t know?” I say blankly. I take the card out of the flowers and read it:
Dear Blair,
I no I have been very wrong to you, but I really and truly do miss you. We had so much fun together. Please don’t through it away because of some idiotic decision I made. Well, think about it, okay? And I’ll see you at the party this weekend, I hope.

p.s. I hope you like the flowers, babe!
Yeah, write. If he actually thinks I would even consider getting back with him. He had his chance and he screwed up! Anna gasped as she came up behind me and read the letter over my shoulder. “Wow, he really has got some nerve!” “Yeah, but you know I can’t go to the party.” “What! No you have to go. This weekend I actually want to start looking for a boyfriend for long term. Please, please, you have to go!” She said begging. “But, we just broke up last weekend. I mean, I guess if you really want me to go. But, as you can see you might not want my boyfriend advice because it obviously didn’t do anything for me!” I said ripping the card in half. “Oh pulease, you could have any guy here you wanted. Crain, well, he was just a jackass!” Anna says as we collect our stuff. I decide instead of just trashing the flowers, I have a better idea. “Hey Miss Lindsay you in here?” I ask knocking on her door with the flowers in my hand. “Yeah, sure, come in.” I walk in. “Wow, wha...what are these for?” she says standing up and coming over to me looking at the flowers. “I just wanted to say thanks for letting me work here this summer. Because I have heard that you don’t usually take newbie’s in very often. And well I just wanted to say thanks!” I set the flowers on her desk, and then she tells me how thoughtful it was and all. I do kind of feel bad because it’s not like I actually got them for her, but I’ll get over it. Later, I ride home with Pj and Anna. When we get there Anna heads inside quickly because her show Gilmore Girls is about to come on, and well she’s obsessed with it. “We need to talk.” Pj says as he starts to lead me out to the beach. I look into his eyes trying to read his mood, but there’s nothing there. We go out to the beach and sit down facing the water. He won’t look me in the eyes. “What’s up?” I ask. “Well, you know we never were really “dating officially”, right?” He says looking at me in my eyes giving me a quick smile. “Yeah…” I hesitate. I know something’s up. It just doesn’t feel right.
“Well, I have, pretty much, had a girlfriend this whole summer, and…I…I do like you,” He pauses to take a deep breathe, and gives my hand a squeeze. “It’s just that I would sort of like to take sometime away from girlfriends and just enjoy the summer having fun.” He is now looking at me straight on. I can tell by his eyes that he is sincere, and I know he really does care for me. “Actually, I have done a lot of thinking about that lately, too.” I say looking down at the sand. It’s only like 1 or 2, so it’s still really light out, and I have to squint to keep the sun out of my eyes. Then, Pj lifts my chin up to face him. “And…?” he asks half smiling. Now, everything seems to be back to normal. Even though, I pretty much just got dumped by someone who I never really was ‘dating’, it’s just feels like there is that connection that we have where no matter what I say we will always be a couple. “I think having fun is the way to go!” I say getting up and running down the beach. “Hey? Where you going?” Pj yells getting up to follow me. After Pj has tackled and tickled me half to death I manage to catch my breath. “So, since were now both technically single you want to go to the party with me this weekend?” I ask as we are lying on our backs with my head on his chest in the sand. “Yeah, that’d be fun…hah” he answers. I still don’t exactly know where I stand with him but for now I am just enjoying the moments. Because no matter what anyone says at the end of the summer I go home I am going back to my New York. And, yes, I still love it, New York that is, I will definitely miss everyone here. Especially Pj.
When Friday came I actually got butterflies in my stomach about the party tonight. “Aww, Blair’s in love with me brother!” Anna practically screamed after work while I was at their house, though, luckily Pj had to go somewhere, so he wasn’t home. “Shut up! No I’m not!” I said throwing a pillow at her. “Ahh, you almost made my mess up!” Anna said getting her balance back painting her toe nails. We decided we would go to Anna’s before going to my house to get ready. “Hey, you know you can do that at my house?” “Yeah, but I’m already here and its here. So, might as well.” “Whatever.” I say flipping threw one of Anna’s Seventeen magazines. “Well, I guess were in no hurry because Becky, Frank, and Adalaide were gone to visit our other cousins. They had made plans while I was still sick and didn’t plan on me being well. So, they didn’t have a place for me to sleep. Not that I really cared. I would much rather be here going to the party than in Prattville, where our cousins are. When we were back at my house Anna’s helped me pick out an outfit. We finally found something. My outfit was a brown silk tiered skirt with a white tank top and my favorite knee high boots. Anna’s’ was white denim skirts with little blue lines paired with a light blue tube top and flip flops. “Hey your Aunty got anything to drink?” “Yeah sure we got water, soda, milk-” “No, I mean drink drink, like alcohol?” Anna said cutting me off. “Oh, uh, I don’t know…I guess we could look?” I said uncertainly. I really didn’t feel comfortable drinking in this house, even though they are out of town I still feel like they might come in any minute. Anna and I look around in the kitchen and of course we find some vodka. “Okay, here we go!” Anna says pulling out a bottle of vodka. “Oh hey you don’t care do you? You know that were drinking?” “Umm… I guess not.” “K good cause I have had cramps all day and this is the only thing that works!” For the next hour Anna taught me how to make a drink and what taste good together and what doesn’t, and I eventually got over my fear of them coming in on us, after a couple of drinks. “Okay, that’s enough. I don’t want them to notice that some’s gone.” I said after both of us were downing our second. “Yeah, I feel much better now! Ready to PARTAY!!” Anna said throwing her hands up in the air. Just then the phone rang. “I’ll get it.” I said heading off to answer the phone. “Hello?” “Yes, hi Blair?” I heard Anna’s mom say. “Yes, hey Mrs. Wyatt how are you?” I ask. “Well, actually not good is Anna around?” “Oh, yes hold on.” I say as I put the receiver down and go tell Anna that it’s her mom. “Yeah, hey mom…” I hear as I am sitting on the edge of the couch trying to listen. “What!! No what happened?” Oh no, this was bad. Oh god I hope Pj is okay! “…well yeah we want to go…okay see you in a minute.” Anna comes back over to the couch almost in tears. I try to comfort her, but I still want to know what’s going on! “What, what is it? What happened?” “Pj..” Anna says. “he got in a car wreck and is in critical condition, and they don’t know if he is going to make it. My mom’s on her way to get us right now to take us over to the hospital.” I am so taken aback I just sit there with my mouth open and my arms around Anna. When I snap back to reality I tell Anna that it will be okay and that we can go see Pj and not go to the party. “Yeah, I’d like that better.” She says drying her tears. We go and change into casual clothes, then Anna’s mother shows up, and we leave for the hospital. Anna’s mother has been crying you can tell, but she doesn’t want to cry in front of us. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I just can’t cry. Its like my body wants too, but my mind says that its not real and that Pj is really okay at home or something.
