heheh, just like jasmine trias of american idol finalist last year, her parents are both filipino, but she hardly speak & understand tagalog. But I think it is much better if you know a lot of language, & ofcourse your own language.

8 years na. wala na me accent. you get rid of it after a while. if you talk a lot to people and watch a lot of english shows, ineveitably, you'll pick up on how to talk without an accent.
