By far the Terminator 2 soundtrack. Specifically the tracks "Escape from the Hospital" (which contained that intimidating as hell T-1000 theme) and "Desert Suite" (a very nice interlude during the desert). "Hasta la vista baby" is very powerful as well, especially during the T-1000's reformation.

Soundtrack, never heard any of them, except "You Could Be Mine" by GNR. The video was awesome, song was great. Gets me thinkin' bout John motoring down the drainage ditch out in LA.

Score, the original. The opening credits/sequence is very, very intimidating, and for good reason.

yeh the original is better, brad fiedel is awesome

The best version of the "Terminator" theme is from the T3 teaser trailer. I just love it. It is slightly different from that of T2, with added chour, which really makes it stand out. I love it! Sad it wasn't used in T3.

For those who haven't a clue what I'm on about, here it is...

http://www.columbiatristar.fr/03/t3/qt_gd.html

That in my eyes is a great teaser. Would of been better though if it said "Terminator 3" instead of "T3".

If only you knew how many times I used to watch that! stick out tongue

T2-The music during the opening sequence will always be in my mind. It even made it to be the unofficial theme for the 2004 Academy Awards!

I agree, T1 had a more dark, mysterious sort of mood with its soundtrack, something both T2 and 3 lacked.

Recently posted on Moviehole.net is a short interview with composer Marco Beltrami, who as you should know composed Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Here is what he had to say about T3 -

Lets go back a bit, I enjoyed your score for ‘’Terminator 3 : Rise of the Machines ‘’– but tell me, where do you start with something like that? Do you have to listen to the score of the first two films and try and emulate it?
No, in fact it was the opposite – the director [Jonathan Mostow] didn’t want it to sound like any of the other movies, he wanted it to be its own thing. He said “You can do a homage to Brad Fedel (who scored the first two movies) in the end credits or something but I don’t want you to use his score in the movie at all”. We took a lot of flack for that from fans of the first two movies.

Are you working on ‘’Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins’’?
Um, no…. I don’t know, we’ve talked about it a little bit but nothing’s been worked out. I hear they may want to start fresh again with that, but I don’t know.

The composer of the score for Terminator Salvation has been announced, it's Danny Elfman. A name we all probably know from the large list of films he's worked on.

I suspect he may have never watched a Terminator film though. Seems it's not a given, that the infamous Terminator music will be used.

McG's Terminator Salvation is one of the most anticipated releases of this year. Another film in the Terminator franchise, a director some people were not quite sure of, and a slightly dodgy third film to recover from. Overall though it's looking positive, going by the footage we have seen.

Danny Elfman has recently been given the job of composing the score. Normally I wouldn't bat an eye lid, but the well known Terminator music is not a cert for inclusion. He spoke to MTV:

I think if it comes up and it seems appropriate, we will [use it]. And if it doesn’t, we [won't]. I never really know what to expect when I begin other than just kind of get into it and have fun. Especially a movie like “T4” – just have fun. So that’s what I intend to do.

Okay, I'm going to put my geek hat on for a minute. I don't get it. One of the most recognisable film themes going, and they might use it. It's not difficult is it. You put it at the start, or the end, or both. It's Terminator, just put it in. Sounds like a bit of artistic posturing to me.

Anyone else bothered about it? Or am I just a sad geek?

I definitely would be quite peeved off if the Terminator theme wasn't included, but they did have it at the very end of the trailer I saw before Wolverine:

So hopefully it will be included. It wouldn't really be a Terminator movie without the Terminator theme. Although the song they had during most of the trailer (above) was pretty awesome too. The tone really fits the whole theme of the movie! smile
