Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Information

Alvadurian (also known as AlvaKuridan -by the Dwarves- and Alvanudaria -by the Elves-)

It is only a small part of its own world but more has not yet been explored so for now it will have to do. As you can all see on the map it is divided into 15 "nations". Some of these form Factions and alliances and some just stick to their own. Please try not to compare this to Middle Earth too much. In Alvadurian man is indeed the widest spread race but closely followed by both elves and dwarves. Both of those races just remain in their own kingdoms for most of the time.

A little explanation about each of the 15 "nations"
1 Takuna-Sato
A small but rich city state which is ruled by the royal family DeMedici. The nation itself is only about 300 square miles and consists out of not much more than two cities, Takuna-Sato and Cadu, and a few villages. The state is divide into two parts by the river Turenna, it can only be crossed by one heavily secured bridge and a shallow. Takuna-Sato lies at the base of the Rundarion Mountains. It is by far the wealthiest nation in Alvadurian because it lies in the centre and DeMedici did their best to create a stable and trade friendly environment.

2 Zultanae
A Venice-like-city-state not as wealthy as Takuna-Sato but still very rich. They had a few domestic disturbances lately. Since their duke was assassinated by someone which they claim came from Takuna-Sato, things haven’t been the same between the two countries. Zultanae has not yet closed off its borders but tensions are running high. Any military action could set of this smoking barrel.

3 Glabryn
After the death of the earl some months ago it has become a magocracy. It is ruled by three archmages from the city of Geon. It is a new nation with enough local trouble as it is. They realize very well that there kingdom might very well be the battleground should there ever be a war between the Takuan-bay Alliance and the empire of Dul Hanel.

-------------------
Takuan-bay Alliance:
A trading alliance between the tree small nations around Takuan-bay possibly one of the strongest economical powers in Alvadurian.
-Citizens from Takuan-bay (any of the 3 countries) are called Bayers
-They speak "Merchants-Tongue" a universal trading language which they made their official language out of ease.
-------------------

B]4 The empire of Toranaga[/B]
An island nation, located on a volcanic archipelago in the South East corner of Alvadurian. The mountain covered islands house one of the most revered and feared nations. The feudal empire has very little contact with other nations, most contact that does happen is via trading. Recently the trading has been slowing down. The capital is Osahikan. The river following through the main island is the Raumo.
-Citizens from the empire are called “Torana”
-They speak “Toran”

5 White Forest
The woodland realm of the high and wood elves. They keep to themselves mostly, some venture outside their woods but this happens on rare occasions. It is believed by many that the elves harbor a great force within the walls of green. Very few have had the privilege to enter the white forest. Those that have and according by elves it is a place where peace and calm can be found which harbors only good and where nature still can be found unsoiled.
-Citizens are elves (yea d’uh)
-They speak “high elven”, “low elven” and “sindarin”

6 Rundarior
Home of the Rundar, a nomadic people who roam freely over this valley between the Rundarion Mountains and the Terandion. They roam freely across the plains with their herds of horses. The Rundar are famous riders and breed the best horses that can be found. Not the most advanced or the richest civilization in Alvadurian but certainly one of the happiest and one that understands freedom.
-Citizens are called “Rundar”
-They speak “Rundarian”

7 Bruktargot
A dwarven nation tucked away deep inside the Iron mountains. The mountains are filled with Mountain dwarves, the hills behind them hold the Hill dwarf clans and underground in the stone valleys are the cities of the stone dwarves. All dwarves live in a clan based society. They have a king which has no official power he only acts as a representative towards the outside world.
-Citizens are called “Dwarves”
-They speak “Dwarven” Stone dwarves also speak “Terran”

8 Dul Hanel
The biggest and most powerful nation on Alvadurian, recently a new king was appointed after the old one died. King Tercantos never tried to hide his lust for expansion. Soon after Tercantos became king the trade routes were taxed and all caravans going in or out Dul’Hanel were checked. He send home every envoy and representative. Many fear that he is up to something. The Dul’Hanel is divided by the Ollos river. The capital is “Dul’Hanel”.
-Citizens are called “Hanelion”
-They speak “Dul”

9 Spirecity
“Spirecity” is located on Spireisland, few have ever been there and returned to tell the tale. Versions vary from an island filled with monsters to the home of the mystical gray elves and the mythical feyfolk.
-Citizens are called “?”
-They allegedly speak “Celestial”?

10 Mercurionas
The republic of Mercurionas has very little to do with other cultures, protected behind the Linae they don’t bother making allies or even establishing trading routes. They consider themselves the most sophisticated society in Alvadurian, they claim to be the best race and descendants from the Feyfolk. Their capital is “the city of light” also known as “Echmirdan”
-Citizens are called “Mercurionas” and are Half-Elves (for 95%)
-They speak “Mercurion”

11 Heraldium
The lands of Heraldium were given to the gnomes and halflings by king Eothurian of Eodrium some 2000 years ago. Heraldium is a peaceful and quite place were the little folks can live without fear of being conquered. They have no real structure and their lands consist out of countryside villages.
-Citizens are gnomes and halflings
-They speak “gnome” and “halfling”

12, Cuthandrium
A very young state only three human generations old. It is the southern part of the former state of Eodrium which was divided into 3 pieces after King, paladin, Eotheb died little over a century ago. He divided his land among the three things he held dear in life, his church and his two sons. Being a devoted follower of St. Cuthbert, he left the southern part of his kingdom in their keeping. It is now the most religious country on Alvadurian.
-Citizens are called “Eodriun”
-They speak “Eodri”

13 Vieuxdrium and 14 Jeundrium
The Western part of “Eodrium” it was left to Eotheb oldest son Maximilian, the Eastern part to Philips the youngest. People form Vieuxdrium, or “Western Eodrium” as most still call it, and from Jeundrium, or “Eastern Eodrium”, are still very much alike. In both flows a river the west Urn and the east Urn.
Tho both countries so far have made no attempts to reunite, but also there has been no sign of Sibel rivalry. Since Tercantos has claimed the throne of Dul’Hanel he has repeatedly made a claim for the lost throne of Eodrium. So far he has not taken it by force but how long will this wait.
-Citizens of called “Eodriun”
-They speak “Eodri”

15 Eradur
A barren waste land of tundra and god forsaken plains home to the wild elves and the barbaric Half-orcs few people ever venture to Eradur for little is gained by doing so. They are no nation it is just a geographical name.

Pantheon of Alvadurian
Now this is a tad different from the normal DnD Pantheon for a few reasons.

A) Racial gods (for elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflfings and so on) are not believed to exist by humans. Clerics do ponder about the possibility but are uncertain. The human gods KNOW the racial gods exist but do not tell their own clerics

B) All Gods 9except for the racial ones) are family, like in ancient Greece. Do take into account that because a god is higher on the tree doesn't mean that he has more to say (certainly not true for his clerics or paladins)

C) Now the Pantheon itself

????------------Kord=Ehlonna-------Boccob
|...........................|.........................|
??..Hextor--Heironeous--Obad-Hai..Fharlangh
|........................|
??...........Pelor*------St. Cuthbert*

*messedons of Heironeous and Lia Galanodel (elf Princes, altho the elves claim she was a half-elf)
Pelor and St. Cuthbert were both born as demigods, seeing as Lia was No goddess herself. However Hextor got jealous of Heironeous and killed Lia. After this Pelor and St. Cuthbert became full-gods themselves. The reason for this is unknown all that is known is that Hextor was very malcontent by this.

This should be enough for now now what I need from my players is the following: Namely all human players need to choose from which country they descend. Also No-one in this world is an atheist so pick your deities. (Half-elves may believe in the elven God) Humans you have a choice which is big enough if you want info on a deity just ask. Hextor is the only evil one tho.

PS: For the smart ones among you, yes there is more to this Pantheon than meets the eye. I only gave you guys what your character could possibly know. In time it will all be revealed to you.

What does the title the God of Roads entail, Fire?

Well Trickster I can tell you this:

Quoting the PHB:
"His title is the Dweller on the Horizon. His wayside shrines are common on well used roads (which are the bulk in my campaign) Bards, merchants and other wondering adventurers favor him. His domains (specialties) are Luck, Protection and Travel. The quarter staff is his weapon of choice"

My own addings:
In all realms of man there are Inns run by clerics of Fharlanghn in each town. These inns are cheap and modest but offer a warm place to sleep for even the poorest of travellers.

Fharlanghn his paladins roam around the roads to keep them safe. Rendering assistance where ever possible.

Fharlanghn is always depicted as an old man with a long gray beard, a cloack and a travelingstick

Well I'll give some info about Boccob

PHB: "His titles include the Uncaring, Lord of All Magics and Archmage of the Deities. Boccob is a distant god who promotes no special agenda in the world of mortals. As a god of magic and knowledge, he is worshipped by wizards, sorcerers and sages. The domains he is associated with are Knowledge, Magic and Trickery. The quarterstaff is his favored weapon"

Own addings:
Most magic schools believe in boccob to be the source of arcane power. tho unlike clerics boccob doesn't grant mages favors he just released this Arcane power onto the world. Some say boccob was just the first who learned to control Arcane power.

His temples are usually small but with extensive libraries around them. Defended by paladins and guarded by clerics they hold forgotten lore and hidden knowledge.

Boccob is also depicted as an old man with a long white beard wearing a purple and golden cloak.

PS: kinda like Gandalf the Gray (Fharlanghn) and Gandalf the White (Boccob) in physical appearance.

See, that didn't really help...

What specifically does Fharlanghn actually do - does he take part in mortal games?

Most deities don't intervene with the mortal realm (in DnD it is called the material plane) themselves. However they have a whole range of angels and other celestial beings who they can send down there. But they generally do not do that. Fharlanghn mostly watches over all who use the roads both good and evil. Altho mostly good -he despises ambushers-

Does worshipping a god actually do anything?

nope (atleast it aint likely. But it is a fun way to explore a character and that will ALWAYS be rewarded) not unless you are a cleric or a paladin

- Terandion Mountains: North and East of Rundarior (6)
- Black Mountains: Mountains arround Bruktargot (7)

Rivers
- Turenna: Small river that divides Takuna-Sato (1)
- Raumo: Small river in the Empire of Toranaga (4)
- Ollos: Large river in Dul'Hanel (8)
- Urn: River that comes from the melting of the East and West Urn in Cuthandrium (12)
