If we're talking god-Cable then X-Force would have a shot (if it's the Jean who can't control her pheonix powers). Jean at full pheonix potential would win, but if she goes schizo with her powers then Cable could whup some a$$.

well storm could most likely take out his entire team herself so it would be x-men VS cable. unless its god-like cable storm moight be able to stand up to him. she has stoom up to emma frost, and rachel grey, and at one time even xavier. i'm ot saying she can beat him but i think her team can beat him.
Storm shouldn't be able to stand up to any telepath...she's not immune to telepathic attacks. Written correctly Emma Frost, Xavier, Cable(!), etc. would ruin her.
And apparently Cannonball can hold his own with Gladiator so I wouldn't count him out either.
Even still, if Jean isn't able to control her pheonix powers, I actually like Cable in the Cable vs. X-Men scenario you suggested.
storm almost is immune but not all. she has alectricity in her brain so it is naturally hard to get in. then she can establish a field of lightning around her head so it scrambles oncoming psionic attacks. she can withstand emma frost, and rachel greyw/ the phoenix force. at one point even xavier even couldn't get inside. this power is also backed by her will. we all know that she has one if the toughest around. she can resist beimg mind controlled, and the strongest drugs sometimes don't affect her. imo she could beat all on cables team except cable himself
Jean is always one with the phoenix after the retcon it gives her various abilities a cosmic level boost. She places psychic restraints on her abilities for day to day earth bound applications usually however in a battle like this she would consciously tap into it in order to be powerful enough to take on her opponents. Cables no match for her. She taught him how to use his powers.
What continuity is that where she is one with the pheonix?? I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious really. Because I know there have been series' where pheonix and jean are separate entities and only cross for a while.
basically storm due to the nature of her powers is tough to read by telepaths when agitated because her powers are linked to her emotions and electromagnetic energies are related to telepathy( read essential xmen 1 for proof. The reason Xaviers mental scanning range is nowhere near as vast as it used to be is because of magnetos manipulations of the electromagnetic field of earth.) Storm has recently withstood a telepathic assault from rachel grey when she briefly turned against the xmen. Shes not immune to telepathy but the nature of her powers provides resistance plus when backed by her will enables her to resist telepathic attack from the likes of rachel and emma as she has done to both in the pages of xmen over the last year and a half. In a battle situation the teams are goin want to take each other out fast. The telepaths arent gonna be able to finish storm with a single thought they would have to put some concentration in it and that would giv her tme to send a lightning bolt their way just as she did to emma in their recent confrontation
Basically it was originally intended for jean to be one with the phoenix after the space shuttlecrash. It was meant to be the ultimate expression of her powers that she could tap into it all the time. Jean actually was dark phoenix. But that got retconned in 86 with the whole cocoon in the ocean thing but then recently in the grant morrison of new xmen it got reverted bk to the original idea and this has been carried on in the current endsong mini series. Jean is an avatar all the time she always has a connection with the phoenix force. The phoenix force is at the same tme a separate entity however when it makes itself sentient it draws on the life forces of all future generations that will ever exist so it chooses not be. Thats why its work as a doctor of the existence is carried out thru avatars.
