Rob Bottin IS God! His craft is beginning to die out these days with all this CGI tomfoolery.  Computer generated crap that looks as real, for the most part, as the plastic films it appears in. Candy-floss for the eyes and not even good candy-floss at that.
As for THE THING? Excellent. Although I'd rate his earlier ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and HALLOWEEN higher myself.
