Your probably right, the only reason I'm plugging it, is cos Michu Kacku said it once on a documentary. And everyone love Michu Kacku. If u don't know who I mean, wki him. U'll know exactly who Im talking about.

Honestly they are a good read ... way better than anything Quanchi has ever written. Check them out.

Although its got the most contradictory title ever; science of the Impossible; its his his best work. How; Ray Guns, Invisibility, Warp Drive, T.K., Telepathy, Time travel, force fields would work in the real world. Very good read. He did get a phd at MIT, so he can't be that dumb ???

Ok, here goes !!!... All the weird kind of psionic powers that are demonstrated by Doctor Manhattan, would be possible if humans evolved a 6 sense accurate enough to detect quantum WAVE functions, and we could bi-pass Kantian transcendental- idealism.

I find it an interesting coincidence (?) that psi is the term parapsychologists use to refer to psychic phenomena, AND it is the term physicists use to refer to the quantum wavefunction. In terms of real-world applications, the major drawback is that the theory places Consciousness--not the material world--as the ultimate ground of being, which right away puts it beyond the reach of empirical science. However, in the comic world, where you already have all kinds of gods and cosmic beings and such, it works out very nicely.

Superhuman suits that are flexible could happen:

I've always been a fan of the functional superhero suits over the classic underwear out for no reason look.

I do believe many of these things are possible, but any coverage of media would be negative and based on the morality of it all, considering we're MAKING human beings. You could easily make a man who can glow flourescently by taking a certain gene from jellyfish. They've done it with rats. also a possible genetic superpower is taking a gene from a pangolin and have a man with keretin armor made of scales. I believe the more animal-like superpowers are a lot more possible than most. Beast for example, minus perhaps the blue fur( but who knows) is fery possible. Its really a question of morals.

Genetically engineer someone with no pain receptors and a permanent adrenalin rush to use as a super-soldier. Add the above pangonlin armor and some bear claws that produce the venom of a box jellyfish or arrow poison frog. And the poison bite and spit of the king cobra. Implant stem cells to cause them to differentiate into another set of eyes in the back of the head. Engineer in cat retinas for night vision, and the ultra violet vision to infra red super vision receptors of the mantis shrimp. Combine with eagle eyes for distance vision. Migratory bird magnetic senses for navigation. Gills and webbed feet for amphibious assault. Rework the skeleton and musculature to give the strength of a chimpanzee.

The possibilities are endless and it's hard to understand why the government aren't pursuing this course of research before the Chinese do it. There are, of course, moral and ethical issues but they can usually be safely ignored.

What about developing Dr. Strange level mystic powers through the extensive study of Wicca?

I heard Steve Jobs possessed something called a "reality distortion field" which may be the closest the real world has seen to reality manipulation powers.

Supposedly affected reality but only within a short range (around himself), something like the Marvel character Freedom Ring had.

I think all these power are definetly possible. We have some examples nowadays such as steroids that can make you stronger to ritalin that can make you 'smarter' or at least feel smart giving you an interest and an intense focus in what you are reading. The only thing that seems a bit farfetched but i won't doubt completely b/c back in the day the idea that man can fly (airplane) was crazy talk is someone being able to fly like superman w/o no wings or apparatus. I mean i can't begin to understand how that will work unless its something like mild telekinesis.

This might be a tad late

Unfortunately, recent genetic advances have opened the door to the homeobox, which is basically a set of tools that encode our DNA to produce specialized cells example, Arthropods Thorax, abdomen and head etc.

It was recently discovered that because all species on this planet derive from a LUCA- last universal common ancestor, we would obviously have the same homeotic genes encoding our body plans.

Now say we took the homeotic gene for a fly's compound eye and placed it into a mammal, lets say a mouse. The result would just be a normal mammalian eye. Now I'm not saying its impossible, there are complexities, alleles and mutations like how sickle cell anaemia is able to resist the malaria virus due to its crescent shaped haemoglobin.

A winged human being, although a decent idea when encoding the genes from a bird into a human, the human RNA and proteins would just code it back to a human arm, the wing would not form.

The only thing viable really, would be to wait for a mutation or trait favourable to our cultural lifestyle, extended canines, sharp teeth due to our increased carnivorous intake or the loss of our pinky toes.
But due to our existence being only a fraction of geological time, we will not be seeing these transitions in out lifetime.

What you would need is genetics from an external source.... since we are too interconnected on this planet, depending on whether or not you are a Copernican or a Goldilocks idealist.

Although the science pushes away from these ideas, I'll never let it smash my fantasies of having power, always wanted to be the villain. smile

Glowing humans- A total possibility, much like melanin differences and even blue people.
Just small scale alleles.
