How do you know it's not 'uncommon' belief? I don't think I've personally meet anybody idiotic enough to believe that. Much less, I've never read that in any text, or hear anybody say it. Just wondering how you got to come across so many retarded people who held this belief.

I think there is some truth in it though. As with anything else that is held in high regard/esteem...cars, athletes, and yes, even musicians/bands, we put them on such a pedestal that they're deemed infallible.
When dealing with Beatles fan, and I know because I'm one of them, our feeling is exactly that...there's just the Beatles, and eveyone else-maybe the Rolling Stones, maybe.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm still able to see outside the "glass house", and appreciate other bands/music/genres, etc.

Well. Was it a topic you discuss commonly with people?
I mean, you have to admit, "Hey 2D, I am Ted, nice to meet you, by the way, I think that The Beatles are factually the best band in the world and I overrate them in every aspect" is an...uncommon opening statement.

Well yeah I know, but AC said it 'ISN'T a uncommon' belief. I'm just wondering how he came to that conclusion. Because I don't know anybody THAT ignorant/stupid.

So because you haven't met anybody who would say such a thing, it's not a common belief? I've heard it plenty of times, maybe it's not generally common, but I've heard it and phrases LIKE it enough to know it's certainly not uncommon.
Funny, because that was a direct copy and paste from the post. He did, infact, say that.
That's just ridiculously stupid, ignorant and retarded.
Before The Beatles there was nothing? There is absolutely NO truth in that claim whatsoever, and if you even believe so for a second...well.
That's factually untrue though, and not only that, but it's an outstandingly ignorant claim. Don't come in here and say they're not overrated, only to make the claim "There's just The Beatles.".
Are you? Let's see that quote again:
"our feeling is exactly that...there's just the Beatles".
Also saying there's truth to "Before The Beatles there was nothing, they did everything.".
The point is; They didn't start everything, they weren't the first important anything. They were a great band who wrote great music and were reasonably innovative, but not in most of the ways people feel. They were influenced by Frank Zappa's concept album, Freak Out!, to not only do one of their own, but use similar production techniques. If someone else was the influence to their best album, and the elements of it that they get the most praise for, how can anybody logically say there was nothing before? What of all the great composers? These mean nothing because The Beatles came along? If anybody believes that, they're an idiot.
They are given more credit than they deserve to the point that it is sickening. They didn't invent the concept album, they didn't invent the production techniques on Sgt. Pepper's, their influence is massively over-estimated and so is their worth. As PROVEN in this thread, with the classic line:
"before the beatles, there was nothing. They did everything".

Nahh just pointing out that I havent met anybody that dumb. Also pointing out that what is 'NOT uncommon' where you live might be uncommon where I live, or for that fact where anybody else in the forum lives.
I was talking about people I know, in real life, specifically. You'd would have known that If you had read my post before that one.

Funny that, because I once spoke of being jaded by things happening where you live and you shrugged off the idea and refused to tell me if you were American or not.
Yes, I'm aware. You said you were curious as to how I got the belief simply because you personally had not met anyone that dumb.
You also have a fan of The Beatles in this thread saying the same thing, more or less. He doesn't speak for all, but it's not some outlandish belief to meet a fan who overrates them.
