So this is a thread for me to display my poetry. My poems aren't great, inspirational works of art but whatever. I don't mind criticism but don't be a complete ass. I'll probably post other things like little phrases and thoughts too. Anyways, here's the first one...
The Shoe Box
I was cleaning out my room one day,
When I came upon a box.
'Memories', it was labelled,
It was from when I was a child.
Inside were so many things,
That I had completely forgotten about.
It had notes my friends and I wrote to each other,
I can't believe we had our own secret language.
There were love letters I dreamt of sending to the boys I had a crush on.
A smile came to my face when I came upon a tiny album filled with photos.
We were so crazy back then.
I miss being a child,
So carefree,
Always having fun,
No worries...
I continue to search through the treasure chest I had left for the future me.
Pictures I drew of animals and cartoons,
Paper airplanes,
Hair clips,
Everything you could possibly imagine.
I put everything back into the shoe box of memories,
Along with a necklace and a few other trinkets.
I close the box and put it back into the closet,
Hoping to fall upon it once again,
Eight years from now.
People with newspapers over their heads
run for shelter.
Middle aged women pull out their black
umbrellas so their hair doesn't frizz or
their makeup doesn't smudge.
Young clean cut men in their expensive
suits dash for their cars.
Old ladies run for the nearest coffee shop.
Little children put on their rubber boots
and scream whenever the sky explodes with noise.
Me, I embrace the magical shower Mother
Earth gave us.
In playful laughter I run out to the middle
of the street not bothering with shoes or
a jacket.
I spread my arms and look up to the sky
only to see it light up with a single bolt
of electricity.
I see a semi-circle of colors in the distance.
The grey sky begins to clear.
The clouds drift.
The rain lightens.
The sky becomes blue once again.
And just as quickly as the storm came, it was gone.
I write a lot of really dark stuff too but I think it might be a bit too graphic for KMC so you guys are stuck with all the heartbreak poems and such.

This is gorgeous, the imagery is extremely effective and it helps that I can totally relate... I love thunderstorms, the noise terrifies me but I get the urge to race outside and frolic in the wetness. Beautiful.
These are excellent. I love how you are taking things that some people take for granted like thunderstorms (i love them) and writing about them. Thats my favourite poem by you so far. I really like how you included all age groups and their different reactions to the storm. I think they're great I really do. Carry on writing I'd love to read more! Well done. And the words you use to conjure up imagery are great. The little things you include in youre poems like how you walked up the aisle of the bus means you can really picture it.wow! And this last poem, I feel as though youv'e written it for me about my last boyfreind and it has actually helped me realize my feelings about him...HATE! lol!I know you didnt but thankyou for writing it anyway!Would you mind if I print you're poem off??? Id like to carry it round with me!
