Days of Yesterday

I sit here and constantly think,
Reminiscising those days.
The days of long gone,
The days of yesterday.
A time that seems so far out of reach,
And so far away.
A day when friends would sit and talk.
The days of yesterday.
A period when laughs were every second,
And everyone could wait and stall.
A time where the chairs were full in front of us,
Before people slowly went away.
Now those chairs are slowly becoming empty,
As people move on in their own eyes.
Some, sadly are no longer with us.
Like a birthday life keeps us constantly surprised.
Who can tell what lies for us down the road,
Who of us knows what to expect.
Well all want to live in the days of yesterday,
That sometimes we have to go back and check.
To see if everything we saw actually happened,
To see if everything we saw was genuine and true.
Days when laughs were not lacking,
Days when things would sail so smooth.
One thing we get constantly are living sparks,
Reminders that come to us in the shape of memories.
Memories come and keep everything alive,
They sometimes give us a passion and a drive.
Though times of the past are long and gone,
Something makes us remember them so strong.
Is it that a part of us fears change,
Of the new things life has to bring.
Or is it that we have an altered script of what really happened,
A time with no flaws to make our perception better,
To put sunny days inside of times of something else,
A time when there was nothing but stormy weather?
If the rest is truly unwritten,
What keeps us on that previous page.
What keeps us from flipping over,
And wondering what's to come the next day?
In circles and circles I speak,
But I must come to a closing.
Perhaps days are never truly gone,
But reincarnate in life before us.
Nevertheless I'll remember the times,
When things all seemed like fun and play.
Nostalgia at it's finest.
The days of yesterday.
