But to deny Stairway epicness is rather ridiculous.
I'd say it's more legendary than epic.

Hmm, maybe, I am still wondering how one defines something epic...

Oh, just thought of some other epic songs : "All around the world" and "Champagne Supernova", both from Oasis. And I'm not even a, erm, fan but I like these particular songs.
They have an epic feel imo.
And "La Sagrada Familia" from The Alan Parsons Project. Now that's truly an epic song. A little bit too bombastic for my taste however.

I'd say Misty Mountain Hop is definately more epic.

'Auto Rock' by Mogwai.
Check it. One time. Word.

I agree with Paranoid Android, definatly, and like a few people stated most songs by Tool, I think Parabol/a myself though. I'm sure there are probaly some other ones I'm not hitting though.

What is, in your opinion, the most epic song you've ever heard?
By epic I mean in scope or ambition. It doesn't have to be a long song, or it can be. For example: Reflection by Tool or Reise, Reise by Rammstein.
Go.

Good thread, AC. Epic, to me, means that the song must be relatively long and left a mark. Otherwise, what is the definition of an epic journey?
That being said, here goes....
Hey Jude, The Beatles
Layla, Clapton
Hotel California, The Eagles
Stairway to Heaven, Zeppelin
November Rain, GNR

"The Ecstasy of Gold" by Ennio Morricone. And if I don't hear that song when/if I enter the gates of heaven I'm gonna be very disappointed.
