Warning Harry Potter Recipes!

There are a couple of homemade recipes on the net of the various foods in the Harry Potter series; I thought we could share some of them here.

Butterbeer
You will need:

-2 cups milk
-3 1/2 scoops vanilla ice cream
-3/4 cup of Coca-Cola/Pepsi
(one serving)

1.) Heat a saucepan to medium power on a stove. To prevent any vanilla from frying, pour a bit of milk in beforehand.

2.) Add the ice cream and wait for it to melt.

3.) Add the soda when the ice cream is completely melted. Mix well.

W00t. Done. If you want, add a sprinkle of cinnamon and wait for it to cool a bit. Hah, there's even a bit of foam at the top and you get all sweaty and warm after drinkin' it.

(looks for Cauldron Cake recipe)

Oh crap. Make sure you add the milk after the Coke.

Pumpkin Juice
2 cups diced pumpkin
2 cups apple juice
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 cup pineapple juice

Juice the pumpkin using your juicer and add the pumpkin juice to the pineapple and apple juice. Add honey and blend in a blender. Serve iced.

Pumpkin Pasties
Ingredients:
One recipe of pie crust
One can of cooked pumpkin
One egg
2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice
One cup of sugar
One beaten egg mixed with 2 tablespoons of milk for eggwash
Extra sugar for sprinkling

Directions:
Prepare the pie crust and chill. Prepare pumpkin filling by combining the pumpkin, egg, spice and sugar. Roll out dough between two sheets of waxed paper. Cut into rounds with a large biscuit cutter. Place a tablespoon of filling on one side of the round. Brush the edges of the round with the beaten egg and fold over. Using a fork, press the edges together with the tines. It will make a design around the edges. Repeat with the remaining rounds. Brush each pastie with the egg-wash mixture and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a 350º oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and serve.

Treacle Tart(Old-fashioned)

9 oz. (250g) Shortcrust pastry
11 Tbls. (200ml) Golden syrup (approx)
1 heaped tsp. Ground ginger (optional)
4oz. (110g) Breadcrumbs

Preheat oven to 400 F/200 C/or Gas Mark 6. Roll out pastry and place in a 9 inch fluted flan dish-pushed well into the corners.

Warm the golden syrup in a sauce pan. Add the ginger and stir in the breadcrumbs.

Pour the breadcrumb mixture into the pastry case and bake for 20-25 minutes!

Treacle Tart can also be made as above, but omit the ginger and add 2 Tbls. lemon juice to the syrup and breadcrumb mixture.

The following recipes were found here but many of the links don't lead to anything.

CHOCOLATE FROGS:
Ingredients:
1 (12-ounce) bag chocolate chips, or 12-ounce bar chocolate, broken into pieces
1 teaspoon grated chocolate
1 plastic mold for bite-size chocolate frogs
Small candy eyes
Directions:
Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave chocolate on high power for 2 minutes. Stir. Continue microwaving in 15-second increments until chocolate is almost completely melted. Remove from microwave and grate 1 teaspoon additional chocolate over the melted chocolate; stir until smooth.
Fill mold with melted chocolate, reserving about 1 tablespoon melted chocolate. Refrigerate molds until chocolate is firm, about 2 hours. Remove frogs from molds. Place candy eyes onto the frogs with remaining melted chocolate. Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
Note: If no microwave is available, melt the chocolate in a saucepan with the help of an adult. If you are an adult....I guess you can do it on your own smile

BUTTERBEER You have a few options here, so take note!

Directions:
Pour the (root beer/cream soda) in a cup, and the butter & butterscotch into a a small bowl. Put the bowl of butter and butterscotch in the microwave and melt it. Pour some melted butter and butterscotch in the root beer but not too much! Then pour some cream (coffee cream) in. Then stir it all up. It might take a few tries to make it to your liking!

CHILLED BUTTERBEER
Ingredients:
8oz ginger ale or cream soda (seems to work better!)
2-3 tablespoons of butterscotch syrup
Directions:
Mix in a tall glass and serve over ice.

HOT BUTTERBEER 2 versions - These do not include Cream Soda or Root Beer.
Version 1 Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of milk
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 level teaspoon of butter
OR
Version 2 Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of milk
1/2 cup of butterscotch chips
Directions:
1. Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients. Blend with a small handmixer if you have one, to make it frothy.
3. Bring the mixture almost to boiling, but not quite.
4. Pour into mugs and serve!

I saw the first hot butterbeer one on a site, except I think it was just cream soda or seltzer, butter, & something else. I wanted my mom to get the ingredients, but I still don't have em & still haven't tasted a single drop yet sad
Though all these versions look loads better. *wipes drool from mouth*

I got this off of Muggle net:
Ton-Tongue toffee

Ton-Tongue toffee just for you, though we promise it's been anti-jinxed to keep your tongues small!

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
8 tablespoons of butter
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (or imitation)
1½ cups water
Additionally, a candy thermometer is required

Directions:

Step 1: In a medium saucepan, mix all ingredients and melt over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 2: Without furter stirring, boil until mixture reaches 290°F on your candy thermometer.

Step 3: Pour mixture into a greased or buttered 9"x12" pan and let cool until almost firm to the touch.

Step 4: Score surface into 2" squares with a sharp knife, but do not cut completely.

Step 5: When cool, break into pieces (this should be easier if toffee was properly scored).

Step 6: Enjoy! Makes 1¼ pounds of toffee.

chocolate frogs

Chocolate Frogs

ingredients

melting chocolate
frog shaped candy mold
jello packages
icing

I was going to make chocolate frogs and peppermint toads out of a simple candy mold, but i decided that sounded too boring, so I took the molds and painted layer of melted chocolate on the inside out frog shapes....once they cooled I popped them out and made jello from a jello jiggler recipe. I let the jello cool to a temp that wouldnt melt the mold, then poured the mix into each frog mold...when they where cool I popped them out. Then i mixed up a bit of royal icing (hardening icing) and put a drop on each jello frog and popped a chocolate frog cap on top.
The frogs were nice and jiggly and a slightly healthier treat for the kids.
