The main problem with this Superman Respect Thread, IMHO, was that it came out wwaaayyyy too late. The guy who made/is making the new movie "Superman Returns" shoulda seen this stuff...then he might've thought long and hard before casting as he did, before changing the costume and god-knows-what-else he's done.
Maybe, if the writing and acting are good...

Superman is good. Even if Lex does the craziest thing, Supes knows sanely knows that he cannot react instinctively and irrational given his powers and might.
Besides, he looks under the influence there. Not saying Superman doesn't get angry, just saying that he is good.

I would guess that Superman does not require food for energy, but he may require it for raw materials, for self-repair, as in healing. Though I suppose some could argue that in his kryptonian cells is machinery for converting energy directly into matter...but this, IMO, is pushing it.

I was just bored one day so I did a little back reading on Superman and in AOS #463 while Superman was racing Flash Wally asked Superman if he needed to eat and Superman basically said that he dont have to cause he burns the solar radiation.

Here is another sweet little feat...after getting hit by Thors magic hammer...a MOMENT later Supes in still in the fight unfazed like if nothing happened...

Supes living (although very sick) with Kryptonite in his body. He was around like this for quite a while and still somewhat functional and as shown in this scan, still fairly invulnerable. It's not the instant kill people think it is.
