really? you liked mgs2 more than 3? 3 had a way better story, and the ending (well the last fight scenes ending) was so emotional, it was really good. the actual ending was so anti climactic, but still good. however for epicness, id have to say (of the games i have beaten) that onimusha had the coolest ending
Ah... a lot of people gave Raiden smack because of his looks and his purported wimpiness early on. I admit, the transition from the tanker with Snake to the oil rigs with Raiden was a bit of whiplash, but over time Raiden's story became quite intriguing and really sucked me in.
The best parts of Snake Eater were the boss fights.. hands down. The End was probably the most memorable boss battle I think I've ever played. Took me an hour and 15 minutes to beat, and it was intense all the way through.
Haven't played 4 yet, because I don't have a PS3, but I can safely assume that the same attention to detail and breadth is there as well. Just 2 is the best out of 1, 2 and 3 that I've played thus far

I still say Prince of Persia. Totally blew my mind and came out of effing nowhere, yet was really well foreshadowed and fit with the characters personalities.
you have changed nothing... your JRPG's have the attention of those infinitely their greater. that which you know as WRPG's are your salvation through destruction!

WARNING:
The video is over 40 minutes long, but the ending is so much worth it, especially if you played through the game.
No other game has ever drawn so much emotion out from me, other than Mother 3.
I literally cried my heart out, especially when [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Hinawa was calling out to Claus.
I doubt I would ever find another game as emotionally draining and heartrending as this.

If you actually bothered playing through the game, then you'll know why this game is one of the saddest games made in the history of gaming (not by me, but by most reviewers/gamers who played the game.)
It makes Aerith's death look like a birthday celebration.
And if you didn't feel the least bit sad, let alone start crying during the final battle after playing through the game, there's something wrong with you.

I have to agree, I've never played a game that pulls on the heart strings like Mother 3 does. I'm gutted that it never got an English release (although the trasnlated version out there is very good.)
Both the ending of chapter 1 (I think it was chapter 1 anyway) and the end of the game are far sadder than Aries' death.
