quote:CS: In terms of what from the book has been removed, can you talk about that a little bit? Heyman: I think we spent a little less time in the game play of the Quidditch World Cup. The decision we made, which was born out of Alfonso's approach, as we got more confident is that anything that doesn't really relate to the Harry story, and in this case, the Harry and Moody story in particular. SPEW was Hermione's issue. It's as simple as that. When you're condensing a book that is this long to a single film, what we felt was there wasn't enough for two separate films. Where do you break it? Yes, you can probably do it, if you did each scene, but in terms of dramatic structure, but it didn't lend itself to two films, so we decided on one, so obviously, cuts had to be made. I would have loved to have kept SPEW. I love it. It's a part of the book that made me laugh and feeds right into Jo's themes. Ultimately, it didn't really relate to Harry's journey, so too with the Quidditch World Cup. We've seen Quidditch. What are going to do in the Quidditch World Cup that we haven't really done before? And we don't really know any of the Irish or the Bulgarian players. They're not part of our world, so we aren't emotionally invested in supporting the Irish or the Bulgarians. So it was a decision that we made. We'll see the players and we'll introduce Krum, but we won't have much gameplay.
