Soccer? WTF is soccer?
It's called FOOTBALL goddamit!
And it definitely is the most popular sport in the world.
2nd... hmm, probably cricket or basketball.

The most popular sport in the world is actually ping-pong. Counting by the number of people who practice it.
When it comes to supporting and the watching of sports etc. it is definitely football, by a long shot.

states that the most popular sport by number of people who play it and by the number of federations for the sport globally...iiissSSSS
volleyball...apparently
then basketball, table tennis and football (proper football...not yankee football)
That list seems incredibly unlikely, and is rather unscientific in it's data gathering as well. I think they ended up with numbers that tell us very little, if anything. Though they say themselves that the Volleyball claim is outlandish, and the Basketball thing very likely wrong.

I'd imagine one of the sports the whole world gets involved in. Soccer, Cricket, Rugby, would be my bet.
