The Next Sci-Fi Epic?
When do you think there will be another original (as in, not a remake/not based on a book) science fiction epic. Such as Star Wars was for an earlier generation. I'm not saying I want another Star Wars, but it'd be neat to see something different, that's just as good/creative.

its hard to say. I mean thats like predicting when another up and comming director, or already well known director will just get the random idea and go through with it. Who knows. Hopefully damn soon. All i have to look forward to this year is V for Vendetta.

V for Vendetta really doesn't fit the sci-fi Genre like I think of Sci-fi.
'Serenity' and 'Firefly' are still a fairly discreet Sci-fi attempt.

Yeah, I watched Serenity. I thought it was pretty good...
But what I wanna see is another trilogy of some new visionary who has some great story to tell, but adds creativity to it, so that its not the same old Sci-fi we usually see.

I liked Serenity but Firefly kinda dragged on a bt. i prefer to watch Stargate when watching the SciFi channel.

Does it have to be space opera? I mean, after all the Trek spin-offs, films and the Star Wars movies, how about something really different? Time travel? Superhero? Alternate reality?
Part of the problem is, if the Powers That Be don't see it as marketable, it will never see the light of day. That's why there are so many remakes.

Yeah, I see what you mean.
I 'm not asking to see any specific type of sci-fi (or any particular branch of it), I just want to see another epic series of films that's original.
