I have seen him stick spikes out of his body and let them stay there on top of his skin, but not like that and not all over his face as if his face becomes spikes. That guy in the trailer looked as if he turned his face into spikes itself, but spike projects spikes from his skin, not turn his skin into spikes.

though i have no idea of who is arclight, and quills, i hope he throws his quills at that battle with storm...
that musicc stayed in my brain for days after i watched the film 
great trailer by the way.
