Penance Relentless #4 (16th January 2008) (Writer: Paul Jenkins, Artist: Paul Gulacy)
The condescending attitude of Reed Richards and Tony Stark towards everything that poses a threat to their notion of the word "Utopia" has been spiralling out of control.
Dr. Doom elegantly exposes the blatant hypocrisy in Reed's argument .
I can't believe this thread is in the state it's in (though, people such as Mr. Slippyfist has made significant contributions). People such as Moon Knight, Iron Fist, X-Man, and other lesser known/popular characters have stars next to their name denoting that it's a recommended thread. Yet the one of the most known and highly recognized villains in comics as a whole does not.
His past and rise to power
Victor Von Doom was the son of gypsies. His mother was a witch, but when she summoned Mephisto it led to the death of many people in her village. She was later killed.
Victor Von doom would then in the near future face the death of his father as well. He was trying to protect Victor from Baron's men. Though he soon died as well.
Though he didn't only rely on magic. His keen mind also used science, but he didn't put boundaries on himself, no limits. With the combination of magic and science, he had no limits.
It was then when Victor Von Doom went to America and was welcomed to New York State's University. There he received a scholarship. And there he met....REED RICHARDS. At first, he didn't really recognize him until Reed showed his intellect.
After he caught Richards looking at some of his work, he later decided to try out his latest experiment. After finding the perfect synthesis between magic and science, he aimed to free his mother from the devil's soul (Mephisto).
He went to his dimension, but it obviously did not go to his favor. A huge explosion occurred which resulted in Victor having his face scarred...for life.
Though thats not what burdened him the most. What haunted him was the fact that he failed. He was then approached by the Soviets wanting him to help them. He refused.
He then met with his childhood friend. She was one of the few who could see his face, beneath the bandages. They loved each other, but it was now that Victor had a weakness. The Soviets who wanted him to work for them now had the upper hand. They used it.
Victor Von Doom won another battle, another obstacle taken down that was in his way. But it was not over. He now had to deal with the wounds, and the cold which killed his father.
Though he was soon brought to safety by the monks in the temple. He learned both magic and science, and they all knew he would surpass them all. He did...
He then acknowledges the fact he could easily go to Vladmir's castle and kill him. But he approached it a different way, a smarter way. He wanted his name to spread, his popularity. Soon the peasants would treat him as hero. He soon gathered his family to help spread the message. Valeria, his former love soon came, and he took her away from the country to protect her. He also said that he was not the same man she once loved.
The Revolution was dooming, the name of Doom was growing! THE GLORY OF DOOM!
Victor Von Doom, now known as Dr. Doom then kills the man he has wanted to kill for so long. The revolution showed no resistance, and Dr. Doom became the monarch of Latveria. HAIL DOOM!
