edit- Nope, I was wrong. That anti-homo essay was from 2008. Trolololo.

Osc still is awful, but the marketing guys for the movie have been trying to keep him out of the way.

And there's evidence that Ender's Game was ghost Written for him, anyway.

Not surprised. Everybody knows social conservatives can't write as well as liberals.

Anyway, allowing your distaste for a man's personal opinions to color your views of his works is indefensibly stupid.

Had to deal with a lot of that in the Journey fanbase. Neal Schon may be a greedy, arrogant manwhore... But that doesn't mean he's not a badass guitarist.

But good luck trying to convince morbidly obese and over emotional soccer moms of that fact.

Tom Cruise said that acting is as hard as fighting a war. I can't fathom the stupidity it takes for a person to believe that, much less say that but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's an amazing actor.

The audition description for the two Episode 7 leads.

You should try out for the audition Neph. I think you'd make a decent Rachel.

edit- I wonder why they went out of their way to specify that any ethnicity will do for "Rachel", but did not do so for "Thomas". That says to me that they want a white dude to play Thomas, but I guess there might be some kind of discrimination law against flat out stating "X race only plz"?

Also, Valerian; that sig looks like a Veneficus sig. Where'd you get it?

Except that was never what was happening. Nobody claims that "the collection of words in the novel Ender's Game is boring because OSC is a fat bigot."

Instead, one of two things happens:
  • Either they refuse to patronize the collection of words in Ender's Game, because the act of acquisition has the unfortunate side-effect of funding hate groups.
    or
  • They observe (rightly) that in Ender's Game itself there are no characters, just agents of Plot who fulfill certain narrative imperatives. Moreover, the few cases of true-introspection on the part of the protagonist are so overwrought or manipulative as to be outright offensive. Additionally...

Those people who refuse to give money to OSC are doing so because they don't want to fund hate groups. There are also people who couldn't move past the book's many flaws, usually because they don't like being pandered to (or were too old when they read it for the first time).

(Also, capt valerian: thumb up

Neph, you're slacking. It's been at least 2 months since you posted your underwear-ad.)

Good Lord, if the homosexual community audited every entertainer and boycotted accordingly, I don't think there'd be that many books to read or movies to watch.

I loathe the mission and methods of the Westboro Baptist Church with every fiber of my being, but I wouldn't necessarily turn down a car for sale by one of their members.

I have an easy time separating a man's behavior from his business. It's pretty obvious from your words that your opinion of Card has influenced your perception of his works.

But then, to be fair, this is a very personal issue for you.

Welcome back. We saved some booze for you.

Also, LOL at not boycotting hateful creators. Mhm, them blood diamonds feel even better because they have been purified with the fires of malice and cooled in the tears of children.

You sounded like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. Just not as badass.

That's just the substitute voice in your head. If you could really hear me, you'd say that I do an okay, not-great Clint Eastwood impression.

Not good enough. Besides, us artists are great blokes. Just accept it and I won't need to imagine anything related to Clint.
