Except that was never what was happening. Nobody claims that "the collection of words in the novel Ender's Game is boring because OSC is a fat bigot."
Instead, one of two things happens:
Either they refuse to patronize the collection of words in Ender's Game, because the act of acquisition has the unfortunate side-effect of funding hate groups.
or
They observe (rightly) that in Ender's Game itself there are no characters, just agents of Plot who fulfill certain narrative imperatives. Moreover, the few cases of true-introspection on the part of the protagonist are so overwrought or manipulative as to be outright offensive. Additionally...
Those people who refuse to give money to OSC are doing so because they don't want to fund hate groups. There are also people who couldn't move past the book's many flaws, usually because they don't like being pandered to (or were too old when they read it for the first time).
