It's much harder to get offended by shit when you realize the potentially offensive shit people say is either accidental, or ultimately motivated by an element of self-loathing. That's one of the main reasons I don't hate anyone anymore. When people are dicks they either don't mean to be dicks or are partially motivated by self-loathing, at least that's what I've come to understand.

For some people, just not giving as much of a **** makes them less motivated to be dicks. And that actually seems simpler, but an easier point to get to. Some people don't really thrust themselves into philosophy and questioning the meaning of life and shit because they're perfectly fine just living their lives, and that's totally fine.
For me, on LSD I realized that connection and disconnection are both processes that feed off of each other, connection/love/humility being what gives our lives purpose and allows us to evolve, and disconnection/self-loathing/hatred/arrogance is what causes us to hurt each other again and again, and after realizing that I can no longer allow myself to consciously contribute to the latter.
