I would say that us lefties are at least as concerned with the preservation of human rights as the gun nuts are with keeping their AK47s. For now, our goals line up: No orwellian definitions that can twist liberties into means of oppression.
problem being, as you are probably aware, the left and the right have vastly different definitions of the word "liberties" and we certainly don't agree on what is a human right, and what is not.
I have a feeling those 2 things are at the heart of all the political hatred that goes on in this country to be honest.
