At least it won't be a long time if you don't like her, Sif, but she's probably as scared as you are. At least you're in the comfort of her own home. She's miles away from her parents and her friends. Suggest POTC to her, and she's welcome to come here with you if she wants. It might be fun to have a French perspective on POTC, specifically if she's a sparrabether.
^^that would be soo cool. id like a foreign exchanger to stay at my house! especially a french one!

I love accents, love listening to them. I don't know what it is, maybe the heritage, but I find the German accent one of the best. It's not as harsh as a lot of people think it is and it's very homey and earthy. French is so soft. And you get to hear it, so envious!
Me, give me a Georgia or Virginia accent any day of the week! There is nothing in this world as smoooooth as how they make words take flight.
The number of syllables in any given word is incredible. There is a vitality and depth in those accents, like good earth, or a quiet forested area. After that I must admit, Irish, lower British, hard core Scottish, Texan isn't too bad on a good day--Thank yew! Just watch "the Closer" she is supposedly from Georgia, her's is a very faint tinge of it. I never would have thought of German as being a warm sound like you wrote, however, in Little Women, Jo's beau had a lovely voice and I believed he spoke to her in a loving and kind manner. Oh, my and I love the little old boy in Hero, the young Japanese man--his accent just sends me into spasms, which flavor I have no idea--oh or Zorba the Greek....
Now phooey, I forgot why I come here--we are within <than 30 postings of 200,000!! Now is that trick or what--everybody keep an eye out for who makes the 200,000 and 200,001--I'm curious as can be about milestones and that to me is a big one.

Yes, the Southern accent is very warm and enticing, especially the Texan drawl. I'll miss it. I do enjoy British and Scottish, too, and...this sounds stupid, but since seeing Sweeney Todd I've been practicing my lower-class British accent in hopes I may someday play Mrs. Lovett. lol.
Ah, another Little Women fan! Yes, Gabriel Byrne's accent is as close to actual German as I have heard it in a movie. We have a few German friends of the family and I do find it very warm and welcoming. It's like you always know there's going to be good food and good conversation when you listen to it.
-*It's here!!Either now or just before me 200,000 right now HOW COOL!! What a great bunch of talkactive and creative piratistas!! Take all you can--give nothing back!!
Cool beans, what a lovely warm interpretation--good food and good conversation.

TOTALLY off-topic, but if anyone watches Ghost Hunters, they're going to Wright-Patterson AFB tonight! I've been there a dozen times. The Air Force museum is there and it's one of the oldest Air Force bases ever. Anyone here interested in ghosts and also thinking of joining the military? Tune into the Sci-Fi channel! Huaaa!
Okay, talk about goofy products--do y'all have Walgreen's stores where y'all are? If'n you do, go and check out the Pirates of the Caribbean cards (birthday mostly). You will be so amazed at how cheesy.

this is a vid of Vanessa Pardis new song, and there is this mysterious figure in the background--you'll have to just watch. Anyone have a clue what the song is about since I don't speak French.

Oh! Tex I'm so glad you posted that...I saw that vid in a cafe the other day and I couldn't remember the name of the song so I couldn't find it on youtube!! But according to the little text below the vid parts of it were directed by Johnny and I'm guessing he is the figure as well? Even if it's not actually HIM...it's representing him. And the title in case you haven't made a guess for it yet is "the fire"...who else could the sexy figure be?

WHOOT can't wait for next year! it's at hotal so me and my friends are going to pitch in to get like 2 rooms and stay there for all three days of it.
AND my crush is coming too! I'm going to offer him to stay with us,since my friends said that anyone can come .XD
Let's all go to a pirate convention somewhere so A. we can meet and stay up too late and hang out with all the "pirate guys" and each other,
B. I can meet the future Mr. Texgodiva2s (figure a man at the convention would already know I was predisposed to the goof in the world and would have a sense of humor and whimsey!!, C. We can all meet and talk at once and decide we all love the most unpiratista food of all, spagetti and chocolate on chocolate cake, with chocolate icecream almost as much as (us olders, with correct papers) love RUM!!!, D. All of the above!!!
Glad I found the vid too==oh, yeah, firey footprints gotta be fire! loL

so sorry to double up but I found the bit about the off shore around the world racing with the PotC boat--it was going 38 knots piratistas--I've sailed off shore a bit and we hit 14 knots once, during a piece of a squall==and that felt like flying--the vid isn't speeded up!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1gcvHBd7oc
The good news is that if you fall off the boat they have to go back and pick you up cos they have to finish the race with as many as they started.
