Liberalism is a bad thing in a place that has liberty bells, liberty shakes and the statue of liberty?

Doesn't have liberty in, but the two do have similar meanings.

I hope the debates come down to Ron Paul vs McCain, at least then Ron will have more time to speak and he can make McCain look like the fool he is.

If you want to see McCain being exposed as a fool, the best way for that to happen is for him to use Huckabee as his VP. But seriously, I doubt he is going to open that can of worms.

Get it into your head now: there is a difference between liberalism and liberty. I’m really trying not to imply that your intelligence is lower than the intelligence of anyone else here, but you don’t really have a grasp on America’s idea of “liberty”, and I have to doubt that most of England shares your view as well.

Hilary nor Obama are liberal though.

They are either Progressives or Socialists IMO. The term "liberal" doesn't really apply to them anymore in my view.

Liberals of the past that are looked up to like JFK/RFK and so forth, probably would be considered Republicans today.

Well, there's classic liberals, and social liberals...and neo liberals which are somewhere in between, or more Blair/Brown kinda people.

Forty years ago that might have been true. If you wanna know why liberalism is bad in America it's because recently it seems to refer to a liberal budget, not just a liberal society.

Then again, nobody in America has been good with the budget recently.

It's a term conservatives use to take jabs at liberals. It's been a lot less common since republicans got control of Congress and demonstrated their own ability to be at liberty with the budget.

It is a hint that a person is "at liberty" with the budget. Puns are allowed in politics, even though political parties have nothing to do with their nomenclature.

It's not quite that easy, but yes, you could say that about classic liberalism. Obviously that does not mean that everyone that calls themselves liberal will want that. Why are you confused about that.

It's a representative democracy. Meaning it is a democracy.

socialism on the other hand is a most digusting and oppressive idea that should never even be considered.
