The "One gem at a time" excuse is classic, but adding "He was only testing him" is inspired.

The movies are different versions. It worked. Thanos works both in the comics and in the films. You cannot copy from one medium to the other and expect it to be an exact copy. Hela is not Thors sister in the comics. Filmmakers make the calls based off the script.
Does he? I've seen him occasionally support her but figured that was just general DC bias on his part. In movie versus if he isn't lowballing Thor he is usually supporting Superman.
Dc yes but he made the WW combo to win famous. He saw a scan once if her performing a combo and debated she won virtually every thread she was in. One scan was all it took to convince h1 of his unshakable beliefs.
I mean, even Nebula(arguably THE most inept IG user to date) was capable of one-shotting the entire cosmic hierarchy immediately after obtaining the IG.
Thanos clearly wasn't trying to just gesture-away the heroes. He grew arrogant, and was purposefully inhibiting himself in that scene in order to give them an ever-so-slight chance of winning. Obviously the heroes aren't nearly in the same ballpark as the cosmics, and Thanos obviously wasn't taking them nearly as serious.

Darkseid versus Thanos could go either way. But give Thanos a Cosmic Cube or the Infinity Gauntlet and it becomes a mismatch of the highest degree, even against the version of Darkseid that Superman sang to death.
Also that's an absurdly high feat for Superman, he basically cancelled out a being who had become the multiverse itself. How's that a low showing for Darkseid is beyond me.
