Wolverine fared better against Savage Hulk and even Green Scar than Ares did.

You can argue that Mercury's "fight" with WWH was better than both of their's too. Until you remember context and WWH not wanting to fight the X-Men and all the while, wearing a sh1t-eating grin, and how WWH was when he fought Iron Man, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, i.e., severely pissed.
