The book really isn't the great work it's been made out to be, in this thread. The movie's not a gem either, it was alright, but not great. Same goes for the book, it's basically a modern Romantic novel, that borrows from works of the Romantic and Gothic eras.
Also, remember there have been two other film adaptations of this novel, and to me this newest offering was just as good as the other two.

Show some sense? You came into a thread about the movie I Am Legend and spilled important plot twists regarding the book. Common sense should have told you that people who saw the movie would want to go out and read the book. The plot line of the book isn't common knowledge, therefore one should be cautious in revealing details about it. It doesn't matter that the book is years old; its plot is still built on elements of suspense and surprise, which you have successfully tainted for an unfortunate few.
Just because a books been around for 20 years doesn't mean you should assume that everyone already knows the plot. Like I said, you didn't break any rules, but that was still a disappointing move on your part. The least you could do is apologize, especially since I know you weren't deliberately trying to ruin the story for anyone
All the ways you wish you could be, that's me. I look like you wanna look, I **** like you wanna ****, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not.
I didn't expect it to be actiony. Didn't need to be.
As for 'spoiling' the book, KMC only concerns itself with masking spoilers of upcoming books, movies, games, etc. rather than things that have been out for decades. Otherwise, there would be nothing to discuss. Someone hasn't seen Star Wars and wants everything to be covered up? Boom, there goes KMC's reason for existing in the first place...
I saw I am Legend the other day and was disappointed with the amount of stuff that had been changed from the book, especially the ending which I think was really poor in the movie.
The film would have been much better if they had used the story (that was very good) from the book.
The trouble is with a movie release such as this, the studio are not in it for the artistic merit, or the original message or intention of the book. I'm sure what went through their minds was that they didn't want to include material that would make an audience think 'oh, another Blade'. The exclusion of the ending has less clear reasons, I suppose they'd rather show a martyr for a good cause, than a killer for a cause that is at first perceived to be good. I do however agree that the original ending would have been much better, obviously though, dollar signs won over.

You might've considered the possibility that this new movie sparked some interest for the book for those that hadn't read it yet (which it did), and revealing such important plot details might not be such a good idea.
As it's been said, you didn't break any rules, it just wasn't too considerate of you.
finally saw it last night...not sure what to think really...i loved the 1st time he goes into the dark after sam...that was intense and very atmospheric
very touching scene in his lab...i'm sure everyone who's seen it knows what i mean
I didn't find that scene in the building intense at all, I was thinking when watching it that they ruined a great chance with it. The bit where he [SPOILER - highlight to read]: shines his light in one area of the building and there is a group of them standing huddled together was good though.
not sure, but the way they made new york abandoned was phenomenal

My favorite part was the Batman vs. Superman poster. If they made that movie right, it would be incredible.
Will Smith is just not a very strong actor. I'll never understand why he is so popular. He has had his moments (Ali, Pursuit of Happyness) but this flick was not one of them.
All in all the move was just too Hollywood. Where did he get his cars washed and waxed every day to keep them so perfectly shiny? Why would you bring your dog with you into dangerous environments without a leash if you actually cared about it other than as an obvious tool to advance the plot?
Here's one question though, was Mickey Rourke the motion captures actor that played the head Vampire? Sure looked like him to me...

Then people wanting to read the book shouldn't have been reading a thread like this where comparisons to the book were going to be inevitable. If you didn't want to be spoiled on the book it was hardly smart to start reading through such a thread; it was doubly stupid to keep on reading once the book was being mentioned to the point where details of it were talked of.
It wasn't even slightly inconsiderate of me- I have an expectation of reasonable and intelligent beheaviour by others. For sure, this sort of thing is not what the spoiler tags are for.
Oddly enough no-one asks for Austen spoilers when a Pride and Prejudice film comes out.

No, it doesn't mean I asusme everyone knows the plot., That;s why I was talking about the plot as part of the discussion. As should have been obvious. What a very weird thing to say.
But it DOES mean I can assume that the work does not need to be spoilered. As I say- that sort of thing is not what the spoiler tags are for. It is in fact an impediment to the discussion of a thread to overload it with spoiler tags; they should be used sparingly.
Discussing the book's relation to this film is very much a legitimate part of this thread and no, it is not going to be tagged. The conversation about details from the book was already going when I joined it; expecting that whole convo to be tagged up is absurd, and it should have been frigging obvious to anyone reading that it was going to talk of such things. Stupid thing is, I didn't even give away the ending- that had already been done by the time I joined in. The ending is the explanation for the name of the book. But this is all just part of the rampant and thoughtless inaccuracy of your comments.
Apologise? You must be out of your mind. The only thing that should be being apologised for is this ridculous attack on those diiscussing the book. I'll say it again- show some sense. And next time don't come crashing into a thread where such spoilers are very possibly going to be found, and keep reading the conversation when it turned to the book.
You only have yourself to blame. Sheesh.
Let's make this clear to everyone- the only thing that needs to be tagged- as indeed it was by those in the book discussion- is details from the film.
