thanos most def. darkseid is fooled by batman on the fly. batman just thought something up on the go. while thanos would literally destroy ds with prep.
ill give examples. i have elaborated this for over twenty pages. but ill give u an example.
In the story genesis. Darskeid is after the power of the godwave. He is focused on getting it. Ares the god of war snags it right out from under darkseid. Thus darkseid was beaten to the punch if you will. In the batman superman story arc you had batman show up on apokolips. He used what means he had at the time to barter his way off apokolips with supergril. Darkseid wasnt rsisking the destruction of his planet over this. Darkseid knows that batman will do whatever is necessary to get the job done. After this they set darkseid up to attack them as superman paraded supergirl across the country. He was easily fooled and thought he killed supergirl. It seemed like darkseid was made to look like a fool twice in one story. Gotta hand it to him.
We all know how successful thanos has been throughout his history.
Ha! You're actually serious. What is Thanos' most impressive prep feat? Don't say Hotu or IG. The guardians were, for the most part dopes and got punked one by one, not to mention many of them were clueless, it came down to Thanos having some idea about gems and then punking the lot of them one-on-one. HOTU was about finding the artifact not impressive. As for Ares, Darkseid came out the better there and he used prep.

Again, the ig,the cosmic cube, his defeating the Magus all rings a bell.
Yes,Ares used prep and made darkseid look second-rate. Thanos makes those who also prep for something second rate. Example Doom and the heart. Thanos got it while Doom came up short. The point is Thanos succeeds while Darkseid fails...again.......and...again.
Predictable. Those are not great prep feats, acquiring artifacts from places, clueless or otherwise unprepared people doesn't count. Darkseid prepped and trapped Ares in that same story line with his tech, Ares was outmaneuvered there. As for Doom he was going after the same thing and Thanos merely got there first, there wasn't some intellectual hurdle he failed to pass, the same thing with Darkseid and Ares.

off the top of my head, how about defeating/stopping a multiversal threat the hunger who was interdimesional parasitic entity or defeating the grandmaster at his own game.
besides theres shit loads of evidance provided by other posters here
Grandmaster was prepared and so was the Runner. Doom also prepped to gain the heart but fell short.
Darkseid along with massive support stopped Ares. Ares became the big threat not Darkseid. See,Darkseid isnt what Thanos is. Darkseid is a lot like the he-man villain skeletor. He always loses at the end of the story no matter how clever he is. The good guys always stop him.
Thanos in terms of prep>>>Darkseid. It isnt even close.
No one said its a fluke but its a one phase process and the idea that ultimate power is lying in artifacts that are within reach is to put it mildly, convenient.
He doesn't have to play a grand game of intrigue or risk or even intellect to acquire these artifacts. Further what process does he use to acquire knowledge of these artifacts? we don't get much elaboration so the plots just turn out to be shallow. With the IG most of the guardians were disappointing.
With Darkseid there's much greater exposition. He manipulates situations by taking calculated risks, he is playing for ultimate power and naturally puts himself at ultimate risk, death itself. The manner with which Thanos acquires his artifacts is extremely (for lack of a better word) cheap by comparison.

Thanos had to locate and defeat each elder to gain each and every gem. Thats impressive. Darkseid takes risks and loses. He is that gambler we all feel bad for because sooner or later he loses everything.
