The Gods in mythology were horny, immature, asses, sure, but they were far more powerful. Atlas in mythology held up space itself, in the game he only holds up a section of earth. The gods in GoW and mtyh in terms of power are not even comparable. The way they act or there personalities should not matter in a vs. thread, as it is the capabilities of the character that counts.
Actually the way a character acts and their personality is VERY important and matters greatly, because someone could be the strongest person in the world but if they're easily-frightened, overly-arrogant, prone to a horrid temper, etc., their powers aren't going to matter all. It's not so simple as "they're powerful" and everyone and everything has flaws and weaknesses.
You also missed me saying that they may have been more powerful but making them as powerful as they were capable of in the myths would make the game unplayable.
1. Of course, but in these threads, CIS is never taken into account for some reason. Kain would probably pee himself at the sight of Pyron, but Burning thought thinks Kain can solo his verse.
2. ...So? They could have had them at those levels, but made Kratos that powerful in the game as well.
And believe it or not, but overpowering characters in a game generally isn't a good idea. Everything should scale according to the main character's power level, not the other way around.
Also you do need to keep in mind that there are many, many different versions of the myths.
Not to mention Atlas DID hold up the earth, not the sky, depending on what suited a particular myth. The myths, developed over the ages, are incredibly varied in themselves.
BT is not evidence of anything, sorry.
And just upping EVERYONE'S powers? No. Bad. You build everything to the player character, not the player character to everything.

1. Kain actually, but yeah, that's why I stay out of Kain threads.
2. Of course not, but actually, sometimes it still happens, Ganondorf is immensly more powerful than Link in all ways(even speed and reaction time), yet still loses, due to one plot device which couldn't kill him when he didn't have the Triforce of Power.
3. That is true, some sources state Atlas lifted space(the universe), some say it was merely the sky. But this actually helps me, in terms of power, the myth gods powers fluctuated, whereas GoW stayed the same, so that is why I believe they should be allowed in threads.
Simply using him as an example. No one really takes into consideration that the character they are supporting wouldn't do what they think they would, they just act like they will have no fear and keep a cool head the whole time.
