What are the best Korean films?

I generally have liked the few Korean films I've seen more than other foreign films.

These were ones I have seen and liked:
Oldboy (favorite)
Lady Vengeance
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Host
Save the Green Planet (2nd favorite)
3 Extremes

Any others that anybody suggests? How about 3 Extremes 2? Any good?

I forgot about JSA, that was good. Dang, I love Korean movies. I really need to see Brotherhood, my manager at Blockbuster also mentioned that one to me. Shiri looks good as well. I couldn't find a plot synopsis or a trailer with english subtitles to figure out what Coast Guard is about. Thanks for the recommendations.

I'm not too crazy about Shiri but Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr Vengeance were all excellent. Of the three Lady Vengeance is my favorite though.

The Host is a must see before the remake and Korean sequel.

A Bittersweet Life is one to check out, ans definitely all the others mentioned like Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War.

Coast Guard is one to miss imo, terrible film from the director compared to his other work. Waste of time, just watch others by Kim Ki Duk like The Isle, or Samaria. Excellent films. One of his new ones called Time is suppose to be good.

My Sassy Girl is a must see.

A Tale of Two Sisters is fabulous.

Public Enemy, and try the second film Another Public Enemy.

President's Last Bang is good, same for President's Barber.

Memories of Murder!!

The Foul King, and The Show Must Go On are suppose to be good, yet to see these two myself.

A few for now.

Natural city is Korean and also worth a look...a bit similar in style to casshern i thought

R-point is probably the only Korean horror i've seen and personally thought it was a bit of a cleavland steamer so would avoid it....although generally i'm not big on horrors so if you are you might like it

MP mentioned other films by the coast guard director...i heard spring, summer, autumn, winter, spring is supposed to be good but haven't seen it

perhaps this should help

I was disappointed with Natural City, ah but Casshern is fantastic(Japanese).

Definitely Nowhere To Hide, that website mentioned it at the bottom of the list.

Oh and Windstruck is mentioned, it's like My Sassy Girl but not so brilliant, still good though.

well, Windstruck is kinda the prequel to My Sassy Girl, or so I've heard. I've watched them both, and both 'clicked' together... well, I both liked them, but I think My Sassy Girl is better..

i agree in that its not great...i saw casshern before i saw natural city and being stylistically similar...casshern is superior...but has an unneccesarily long and blatently anti war existential ending.

I didn't mind the ending at all, probably my favourite part of the whole film.

If I had to choose one, it would probably be Oldboy.

i wouldn't...dont get me wrong...it was good...but i thought it was the middle of the "vengence" trilogy...i thought sympathy for mr vengence was much better...and that lady vengence was the weakest of the 3

I never got to see the whole Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance. I only got to see up until the little girl drowns in the river. It looked pretty decent from what I saw, but I'm not going to compare it until I've seen the whole movie. That would just be stupid.

I think Sympathy for Lady Vengeance lacked any REAL twists. Part of the reason why I enjoy Oldboy so much, is because of the music.

I would like to hear what you thought about Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance though. Don't worry about spoiling.

Just watched the Brotherhood of War. I was impressed. I usually do not like war movies taking place in the 1920-50s, but I loved the depth of the characters. I liked this much much more than Saving Private Ryan (though, that wasn't too hard, I find that movie way overrated).

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.......the best korean flick I have seen so far.
I also liked OldBoy, Lady Vengeance, A tale of 2 sisters and the The Host very much.
And eagerly waiting to see R-Point, Memories of Murder, save the green planet, Christmas in August.
