For the last time people there are two threads with the same name here. The reason is because jackasses starting posting in the other thread before nver and I even had begun our debate. The other thread is the thread in which you can discuss what you thought after the decision has been made. So until this has been decided please post in the other one.
Alright, I have a test in a couple hours that I need to study for (****ing procrastination); so I will likely keep this brief.
I believe that Quanchi has evolved in ways no one expected him to. No offense particularly meant, though he may take it at these next comments. Frankly, in my opinion, he acted in all his other threads like a complete moron. Both where his 'proof' was concerned, and his grammar, syntax, writing ability.
However, in this debate, he definitely took it up a step. He backed everything he claimed, he provided lots of proof, he even wrote coherently. HUGE props to him for that.
However, this isn't about who improved as a debater or who impressed us more. This comes down to who would win in the match.
Reading through the thread, I learned things about Darkseid that I didn't know, and I remembered things about Thanos that I'd long forgotten. There was a lot to take into account but suffice it to say; these characters aren't big guns.
They're gargantuan.
And I think that anyones vote on this matter could easily come down to their view of HOW to debate comic book characters. Whether we should utilize them to their full abilities, whether we should take their showings of character into account, whether we should take their showings of personality?
If we look at the two characters the way they are presented in comics, oft constrained by PIS, and always concerned with CIS - I believe Quanchi has proven that Thanos takes this match. I believe he showed the weaknesses of Darkseid's character, and even exhibited these MORESO than the weaknesses of Darkseid's power. He showed that Darkseid would likely go toe to toe with Thanos, and be outdone.
If we look at the two characters overall, unconstrained by typical PIS, less constrained by CIS, utilizing their powers to their fullest to end the fight? I believe Nvr presented an excellent case to prove that Darkseid outdoes Thanos, tic for tac.
So? Which do we go with? Which interpretation?
It's hard to say which one is right - nearly impossible in fact. Most unbiased viewers on this subject can see the pros and cons of either opinion. And I'm not going to sit here and support my opinion on which I prefer - mostly cause I don't need to.
Unfortunately, as I've seen an evolution in Quanchi that I'd, in earnest, like to see stick around. An improvement I hope he returns to the forum with....
I'm having to go with Darkseid. Not in an overwhelming victory. Not ten out of ten. I think it's plain that these two can operate on a similar power level. And, like I said, if we took a little more CIS into account, it'd be Thanos' game.
But, I happen to have the opposing opinion to my credit, and thusly, have to give Nvr the win.
Congrats on a great match, Quanchi. Like I said, really impressed. When/if you return, I hope you return with the same mindset, the improved English, the improved debating.
To Nvr - you did well. I don't think you convinced me (or anyone, but I could be mistaken) that Darkseid's OVERWHELMINGLY beyond Thanos, but you certainly maintained the general opinion that he'll take Thanos for a majority. Congrats on your win.
Ok this is my final post for at least 4 weeks from here on out.
First off I am not a sore loser and would like to congratulate nver.
Now with that said I want to make some general observations on some of the opinions overall with regards to the decisions made. Sorry I have to but would you expect anything else from the biggest Thanos backer in this forum.
First off with regards to Blair decision I want to make two points. First off I am glad both of you took the time and effort in reading the 11 pages it took to come to a decision. With regards to the 300 foot Ds I thought in here you would fight at a neutral setting and that would mean Darkseid and Thanos would be of equal size. How many times has Darkseid fought Darkseid dc characters and been the size of Galactus. Second thing I want to point out. Blair said that Darkseid had more overall power in dealing with top tiers. I really find that hard to believe when Thanos has never lost to one. Not once outside some crazy ass plot device. We cant say the same for Darkseid.
Ok with regards to soljers decision. Very nicely done. Even though the war is far from over I tried to change your mind as I had read your decision in the darthgoober vs tricksterpriest debate. You made it seem as if you really though darthgoober had won but that you still though darkseid could and would take the overall majority. I wanted to change peoples minds here and in that regard I have failed, well in the judges minds I have. By the way what the hell happened to illadelph. I like that this board is more of a prodarkseid board. I like arguing with people not agreeing with them. I hate the cis rule and always have. It makes up for Darkseid's losses to someone like Superman who nver agreed is capable of skyfather level as he put it. So it gives Darkseid this free pass.
I want to thank all the judges for their time and effort again and please dont take this as a you are so damn post. It isnt.
All in all though it was a lot of fun and I really dont feel I lost in my mind anyways. But you all already knew that anyways. Something that made me laugh afterwards is after the debate was over nver and I started going at it again. To which soljer told us to cut it out. After that we started pming each other and continuing it there for a bit. We both just strongly believe in sort of a fanatical way. Truly a fun time. Time consuming though that is for sure.
One last thing before I take my leave. I will still be reading responses to our debate as I want to hear what the general observations were. I will not respond hereafter for a solid month. Trust me. But know this. THE WAR ISNT OVER. i FAILED WITH THESE JUDGES BUT I WONT STOP BACKING THANOS UNTIL I DRAW MY LAST BREATH.
Our forums beware as in the next couple of days they will be meeting and having to deal with the likes of quanchi112. Who knows what my grammar will be like in the future. A little of both i presume but when its serious debating time you all know what I am capable of.
Now i take my leave and remember all of you that I will return and with a vengeance. For after all I AM QUANCHI112 OF KMC.
Good Job Nvr, Quanchi u did better then what I thought, but I still don't see why you use DS losing to Supes when Supes used a Mother Box against him and he was right next to the sun. Just a warning if you act so pro Thanos on CBR like you have here you'll prob get banned. Anyway see you in a month Q
