[SPOILER - highlight to read]: he squares off with x-man, who cannot conceive of a way of beating ares. he is "war personified, on every plane. in every future, too." when nate tries to escape outside of the normal perception of time, into the "planck length between moments," ares follows and continues to fight him.
So what they are saying is that every plane of existence including the astral realm and physical realm every single aspect of Ares is the embodiment of war including his physical form.
I liked how this fight shows the difference between a god with a powerset, and a mortal with the same powers. Luke Cage is strong and tough, but he certainly could not have done this... kind of like when Ares' axe managed to penetrate the space-time continuum and continue chasing the Secret Warriors- also an awesome feat.
RIP (Probably).
(Final note, notice how Ares evicerates Sentry with his axe, so if this had been Sentry pre MM where he died easily (then came back), Arex would have won this)
They treat their pantheons like they are Kobra or Hand Ninjas or smthing.
Having said that.
Great showing for Ares.
Taking Sentry's punches and actually delivering what would be a killshot to a normal character (adamantium axe to the stomach would down or KO even Thor IMO)
Having said that.
RIP Ares.
A great fictional warrior character killed by the greatest fictional overpowered punk ever (even SBP seems far more likeable now...)
Maybe he'll return in a more "godly" fashion? Not that I want Marvel's Ares to become a copy of DC's, maybe as a god, his spirit lingers or some other mumbo jumbo? It's kinda lame to see Bendis sacrifice a character who's actually interesting and complex without being a complete basket case for the character he's been wanking nonstop but hey, it's comics.
