Hey the way Marvel is writing their god dieing is no big thing. I mean how many times has Zeus Odin Thor Loki and even hercules have died in the recent years but anyway glad he is back
Ares isn't coming back to life. He just isn't completely dead and is existing in some limbo due to the machinations of the Chaos King. At least that's how I understand it.
Well, technically, as an olympian god, he can't really die as long as Olympus or some of his believers exist. One might destroy his body, like Sentry did, but he's bound to come back eventually.

It makes Tyr "war personified" too. In most different human pantheons there are gods having similar/same domains. In the greek pantheon alone some gods are "forced" to share (at least in part) their domain (Helios/Apoll, Selene/Artemis, Ares/Athena, Nereus/Oceanos/Poseidon/Triton)

You are very wrong i am not going through each one but.
Poseidon has absoulte rule over the sea him Hades and Zeus are equals who divided the earth.
Triton was the messenger of the sea with that stupid couch he had.
Ares is the God of war And Athena didn't have a doman.
Ares follows where blood thirtsy just like him however Athena was also the goddess of philiosophy and war and a few other traits so it is not much of a domain.
Ares represant all the nasty things that happen in war that why no one liked him. Think of it like this we like to think of soiders has heroes and we don't like to hear or know anything about the burtal things that happen in war when soiders or people look at Ares they get reminded of the brutality of war since he embody it such has famine, slaughter, pestilence, psychological warfare(he was expert in using fear in battle) and much more. When Ares was in battle he did not just seek to beat his foe he also seeks to truly destory them from the inside out physically mentally and emotionally the tactics that he use were tactics that soiders never wish they have use in the first place. If you read Ares mini back in 2006 t the beginning he saved them from Pluto's armies, but not knowing when to stop he chopped everyone in half so they would wander through eternity incomplete. This is not the type victory one can celebrate or boast to others about. His own family could not look at him in the eye. Then later on he found out why no one liked him and he found out that he was a brutal person and he did not like it one bit.
Athena was a war goddess but she did not embody war at all. She was stationed has a war goddess because she had skills in war she employ her wisdom with warfare making her a military genius. The greek gods were more abstract and philosophical there were other gods that were considered to be war gods such has Poseidon because of his mood swing, hotheaded nature not willing to let things go. Basically if you were someone who spreads rumor, gossip or a ruthless trickster in greek myth you will be considered a war deity to some extant because of the potienal danger these skills cause.
